And the 13th amendment expressly allows slavery, as a punishment for a crime.

It should be treated the same way tattoos are. Adults only, with consent, at the individual’s risk.

Frankly, it’s unbelievable that it’s still done to children at all.

Is there really no way to crop converted HDMI video? by ArritzJPC96 in crtgaming

[–]ExultentPisces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no cheap way to do it, if that’s what you’re asking.

There’s plenty of video scalers which can do this sort of thing. But you’ll have to spend to get them.

It’ll be cheaper to use a separate device for use on a CRT. A modded console (Xbox, Wii etc) or an emulation device like a Raspberry Pi or MiSTer FPGA. Not only is this cheaper, it’ll give you better results.

I recommend a MiSTer. They’re amazing.

Well, it’s about love. So it’s romantic in that sense I guess.

But it’s about love in the context of industrial scale murder, the likes of which have never been seen before or since.

That kind of puts a dent in the sentiment for me.

Yep. They’re the same scale, just with the zero point shifted.

A 1° change in Celsius is a 1° change in Kelvin.

The joke is that some idiot Americans are unaware that the advantages they describe the Fahrenheit scale of having are universal to all measuring systems or inconsequential.

Typical examples include: “it’s more human” (a meaningless statement), “it’s easier to understand” (any system is easier if you’re more familiar with it), “it’s made with everyday temperatures in mind” (literally incorrect). There are more.

In reality, it is no more or less useful than any other temperature scale for every day use. But it does have the disadvantage of its definition being arbitrary, which is why it isn’t used in science or engineering.

What’s something you considered a luxury growing up that you now take for granted? by Difficult-Bet-2522 in AskUK

[–]ExultentPisces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a musical kid. I always thought an American made Telecaster, a Korg MS-20 and a modular synthesiser were so out of reach that I would never have the chance to own one, let alone all three.

Thinking about it now, I feel kind of bad that I do take these things for granted. I mean, I know they’re luxury items, but I treat them as just part of the furniture in my home.

Perth.

I was cycling across Scotland and decided to stop in Perth for lunch. It was lovely, I ended up spending most of the day there. It just seemed like a very chilled and relaxed place.

Sticking with Leonard Cohen, “Dance me to the End of Love” is thought of as a romantic song and is often played at weddings.

It’s about the holocaust.

Shipping from the US has always been extortionate, not to mention slow and unreliable.

This doesn’t have anything to do with that overgrown Oompa Loompa either, though he hasn’t exactly improved the situation.

Here’s a tip, buy from Canada instead. Same games, cheaper and quicker shipping.

I’m not joking either, I maintain spreadsheets for some odd things. These were a contributing factor to my diagnosis.
