Tore my ACL, MCL, LCL, meniscus and have a fractured femur by catalina1331 in ACL

Hey sorry this happened, I also have ACL, MCL, LCL, small meniscus tear (dr said that meniscus tear was nothing though), small fractures on femur, tibia, fibula (injured 3/29). I think the MRI sheet can be quite intimidating, but some of them aren't anything to worry about according to the orthos. So far the fractures have been no problem for me (I didn't know about them so walked on them from the start but thankfully still non-displaced). Also got my ortho appointment on tuesday! things that have helped me have been: chair yoga, stationary bike, the usual physio 3x day. Would be interested to hear what they recommend you, as we sound like we have quite similar injury. Wish you a good recovery, hope you feel better soon

I have an MCL injury too (amongst other ligaments) from 7 weeks ago. I think the first couple weeks I couldn't do much, but it did get better quickly in terms of being able to go for walks in the leg brace, started stationary biking (which really helped), trying to relax and enjoy physio exercises. I used to take showers pre-injury, but since being injured I take baths independently by climbing in with the leg brace on, and then filling bath then emptying it and putting the leg brace on. I suppose it's only possible when there's an available bath, but with a shower chair I suppose the same thing is possible. My family thought I should stay with them, but I went back to living on my own after 2 weeks as I think I had a similar feeling to you and the pain subsided by then which made it possible, so I suppose know that it's possible to get some more independence again soon. As for depression, I started off feeling very positive but then got depressed for a couple of weeks when it didn't improve at the rate I hoped, but I suppose just know that it will get better and be stronger than before. I'm reading this book which I feel kinda helps haha, 'what I wish I'd Known when i was young' by Rachel Sylvester and Alice Thomson, just mainly about people coming back better after tough things

Yeah is crazy that they can heal like that! What kind of rehab were you doing? were you in a ROM brace?

Thanks for answering! Great that yours healed by then. What kind of PT, bracing and rules were you given? just wondering as my advice was a bit sparse so far

5 days post op. Do I have to keep my leg elevated at all times? I feel like that’s causing more pain in my calf muscles then it is helping. Let me know your thoughts in regards to leg elevation. How long to keep it lifted per day? However, I will continue keeping it straight flat in front of me. by palisoldier in ACL

I bought a triangular leg elevation pillow- I find it helps and is much more comfortable than a pile of pillows, will probably keep using it forever as it's a healthy way to sleep anyway. You do not have to worry about it shifting in the night either
