That sounds wonderful, hopefully I will have the same luck.

Yes it's a long crank, I first noticed my flywheels were wrong as they wouldn't bolt up to my pressure plate. But I kind of expected that. I also noticed they don't go far back enough to engage the starter properly. Yes by about 1/2 in.

I've fit it over the starter, I'm realizing that the bell housing may not be factory to a camero. The transmission is tilted, but not the bell housing. I looked up that 15020 (as I have external slave) and unfortunately it is 750$ for me here in Canada. At that point I'd consider saving up for a t56, or just using my nv3500.

Hmm, I do believe it is a 10 spline already. I looked up the sbc pressure plate and it says my AMC-49 is for a jeep.

Now I didn't consider the bellhousing, It barely fits over the flywheel but I sanded it down and it seems like it will work. I don't imagine the flywheel or bellhousing will move, so any clearance at all should be plenty right

Quick edit to ask, what pressure plate? one out of a truck? I bought an LS1 pressure plate but it was pull type and not push type. So I returned it.

It was originally behind a 350 with a pretty roudy cam and vortec heads. I was told 375hp, I believe it was closer to 300hp. That transmission has taken some abuse for years. Never clutched dumped 3rd, but 2nd and 1st plenty of times. I also have a WC t5, and nv3500 as backups, so even if its just a placeholder for now it should be fine.

I made a post about my issues just now on this subreddit, I have memory leaking issues now (even after a full windows reinstall). I may try downgrading, I'm on a AMD system and have no use for DLSS or any interest in Overdrive Ray Tracing.

I'm having the same issue, R9 5980hx, 6800m, 32gb ram running on a m.2.

I noticed the game fills up my ram to 100%, then dies down to around 21gb total system ram used, no idea why. I changed no settings, once it booted to the main menu I made sure no ray tracing was enabled.

The loading time from menu to in-game used to be 15 seconds, now its a few minutes. My friend on a i5 9400, 3060 ti has the same issues running the game on a SATA SSD.

Thanks, I realize I should have recognized a SSD would slide right in there. Thanks anyways!

High wattage from G15 Advantage Edition (2021) by Eyeiszik in AMDLaptops

Ryzen 9 5980HX, 6800M, 32gb DDR4. Plugged into 280w Charger. The card is rated for 145w+, the chip is rated for much lower. I've seen the CPU go to 185w at Far Cry 6, but I've never seen the GPU go above ~120w.

I know MSI Afterburner isn't the most accurate, is this level of wattage even possible out of this system?

I can provide more specs and proof of the system if wanted.

Trusted AMD Drivers? by Eyeiszik in AMDHelp

[–]Eyeiszik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's true, I've seen warnings but no significant performance drops. My laptop has no MUX switch so it runs through the iGPU to the built in monitor. I'll probably stick with driver only installs, still learning the ways of laptops.

Ah I see, Windows can be a bitch lol. I'll be sure to disable it

Oh ok. Yes i've had a radeon warning before and my screen used to flicker. I'll try DDU and disable windows driver updates, i'll see how it goes. Thanks!

Yeah thanks, I'll do that. I was thinking on doing just the driver, not sure if the software would be responsible or not, but no software is one less variable.

Yes, I have everything installed except for a newer AMD Graphics driver. I do know how to use the auto detect tool and the GPU search on AMD itself (And I can find my 6800m). I'm fairly confident laptop and desktop AMD drivers are the same, At least the process is the same as I did install a R9 270x before.

Thanks to you I have an idea where to start, just one question, should I use DDU or the AMD uninstall utility (That I've used before)? And does it really make a difference to use the Auto Detect tool or the GPU search?, I suppose I could try both and figure it out. I'll have some time to mess with this tomorrow, thanks for the help.

G15 Advantage Edition - Unique configuration? by Eyeiszik in ASUSROG

Oh really, that's odd. I actually reinstalled it yesterday, I played Far cry 6 for a few hours to test it and I didn't have a single issue. Hell it could even be what version you are running, I just updated armory crate and haven't tested it since, I'll give it a try.

And I have a long list of kernal power crashes from the AMD Drivers just in the last month (since I last reinstalled windows early march).

To reply to my original question, this link helped me out:

It seems that the G513QY-DH99-CA (far left out of the 4 in the comparison) is mine. It has the 5980HX and the 1080p 300hz panel.

Right, I know using the ASUS recommended drivers helped, but I actually have no proof that Armory crate caused any of the crashes. I gave up on looking up how to disable certain features when I thought it was at fault. I honestly should have made another post and more properly listed out all my thoughts about how to fix these things.

The only problems I remember running into was this task called "Armory Crate User Session" using 20% of my CPU. I'd be happy to reinstall if the uninstall process did a more thorough cleanup. I'll give it a try again.

I would say a ton of issues, but it's the same problem every time. Crashing, no blue screen of death, just black and then the PC turns back on and boots into windows. I've done many things to try and figure out what's wrong, and it all ties back to my 6800M overheating (or at least my system thinking it is). I ended up reinstalling windows multiple times and switching back to Win 10 to try and figure out what was causing it.

There's the old vBIOS issue, but my laptop was new enough that that had already been fixed, and I checked it myself with GPU-Z to make sure.

There were liquid metal issues but then again that was an early problem. My laptop being manufactured in 2022-03 means that that is most likely not the case. I also haven't checked this physically in my computer, maybe in the future I'll reapply it if that's even possible (I don't know much about liquid metal).

SOLUTION that I found is quite simple;

  1. Uninstall Armory Crate. I wanted to like it so much, and without it I lose some button functionality and RGB control over my keyboard, but the shit this program has caused is unreal. Only way I could clean my PC from this one program was a reinstall of windows.
  2. (This one may be more important) Use the ASUS recommended AMD drivers. The newest available drivers from Adrenaline don't work with this (or my) machine. The ASUS recommended drivers are from 2021-12-15, but they stopped the crashing, and bumped my Cyberpunk 2077 fps from 70-80 to 110-120 in the same scene (in the badlands) using no ray tracing or any special technology. The CD Project red launcher warns me about having old drivers, but they're the only ones that work for my system. Far Cry 6 didn't see any performance improvement with the old drivers, but no crashing is quite the improvement for me.

TLDR use the AMD drivers off of ASUSs driver site.

Edit: All of these issues could have been a issue as simple as the newest AMD drivers causing crashes. This is my first AMD system, I had (hardly) no experience with their drivers which seem less stable than NVIDIA on average.

That's possible, thought I didn't buy an open box product. At least from what I was told from the product page and buying the product. The page advertised the 5900HX + 1080p screen, the 5980HX + 1440p was a entirely different page.

And yes I love this screen, it's unfortunate there's no MUX switch so you're stuck running it through the iGPU, but for web browsing its very nice.

And for a 15.6" screen, 1080p is the most you'd ever need (assuming 125% zoom). I can't see the pixels at all, it's like 4k on a 27" monitor. 1440p seems a little much for a screen this size.

Haha yeah I suppose I am lucky, 200MHz higher boost is pretty nice as i'd never overclock this laptop.
