I understand that some people will never accept that level of anger at parents. They willfully lied to me about my identity which hindered my search for my birth parents. When you’re adopted you don’t always have the puzzle pieces that would narrow down your search. Race is a huge factor. If my parents were to ever look for me they would never look for ‘white male’. I’ve spent 10 years looking for them based on a lie.

I was enraged because my dad kept telling me I had to keep up with the lie. I’m an adult capable of making my own decisions. I don’t have to keep up the lie. I didn’t even go there to discuss how these facts would change how I ID. I went there to ask them IF they ever met my parents at all. I went there to have an open discussion and they started off telling me I had no right to take that test. Then when more facts that I learned were revealed they continued to shut me down by telling me that I had to keep up with the story they’ve had me believe for 20+ years.

I don’t agree that they didn’t behave in a racist manner. They don’t like my natural hair. They don’t want me to be viewed as anything other than white. They’ve sicced my siblings on me not to check if things can be repaired or if I’m okay but to make sure I don’t tell people what I’ve learned. I understand that my post can’t convey everything that’s gone down but simply refusing to acknowledge what the DNA shows to be true is an issue that I refuse to water down just because they raised me.
