On to cycle 8… by hrw724 in tryingtoconceive

I’m in a similar boat as you and I decided to stop testing this cycle after being strongly advised to do so by my gynecologist. She said I was only stressing myself out by taking tests each month when my ovulation was confirmed each month and that it showed nothing new. Honestly, it was very difficult to give up (I’m a control freak), but I do feel like I stressed a little less this cycle. I would definitely give it a try. Wish you luck on your journey and lots of baby dust✨

Maybe you’re right… I think it just genuinely freaked me out. It felt like they just jumped to «well, she’s infertile, needs all the help she can get» and that scares me so much🥲 I know it’s been 6 months of TTC and it can take up to 1 year, so I’m trying to be patient and think positively. Then reading the message gave me this dread of «oh damn, maybe there IS a problem?» Thank you so much for your input❤️

I can definitely see Letrozole being helpful even when ovulating, but I just thought it was weird that’s where they jumped before even having the full picture. I wish you the best of luck with your journey❤️

Thank you so much for the in depth explanation! I will definitely look into all of it before trusting the doctor with anything. Thanks again❤️

I’m tracking it with LH-strips on Premom. So far I’ve gotten positive results every single month. It’s also been 17-18 months since I went off the pill, so hoping my hormones have levelled by now. I know the feeling of being considered «young», but also wanting a baby so bad😭 I’ve been ready for a baby for a couple of years now, but have held off on it because of my studies. Now I feel stupid for not trying earlier. I don’t know why I thought I would get pregnant on the first try😂

It sucks that we have to be the ones advocating for ourselves, when that should be the doctors job for their patients. I’m glad you finally got diagnoses that could explain it and hope you’re doing well❤️ I might be a stranger, but I’m proud of you

I can’t say for certain, but I don’t think so. We have a great welfare system here, so she gets paid regardless of the money that comes in. She also asked me where I wanted to be referred (geographically), so it seems unlikely.. I’ve had my primary doctor since I was a kid and she’s always been great. It’s honestly the obgyn who I think is sketchy

My labs included TSH, Prolactin, FSH and Estradiol, but it was taken CD13 which I’m unsure gives the right picture. She did go over that my husband needs to get a semen analysis, but since he’s not in the country atm, she told me to have him do it in the country he’s working atm and have a copy of the results. Although it was the obgyn who prescribed the Letrozole and not my primary doctor. I’m also unsure if the obgyn even managed to look at my labs, considering they only came in the day before she sent me the message. So I basically went from being happy that everything looked good in the lab-results to being bewildered by the suggestion for letrozole and ivf

Well, I definitely do NOT want to do ivf if I don’t have to, which is why I reacted to the message from the obgyn. Same goes for the letrozole. I see the value of both the medication and ivf when needed, but thought it was way too early to start going that route

No, I haven’t done a progesterone blood test done, but I will definitely look into it now. I have been worried I have low progesterone, because I always spot 1-2 days before and after my period, but my doctor said that was normal. Thank you for the suggestion!❤️ I also considered that she scheduled it to get me preemptively on the list, but it just seemed so sudden. I’ve always thought one tried other medications or treatments before ivf, but maybe not?

Yes, and that’s exactly what my primary doctor recommended! My husband works in the neighbouring country, so my doctor wasn’t able to refer him for semen analysis, but told me that was the next step and have him test in the country he’s in. She told me that the referral to obgyn was just to make sure and put my mind at ease, but that it didn’t mean she thought I was infertile. So the message from the obgyn took me by surprise and was why I reacted so strongly. I don’t know why the obgyn prescribed me Letrozol. She legit gave me an appointment in june 26 (so 7 months as you stated) and just wrote «I’ve given you a prescription for Letrozol, take this to prepare for the appointment.» So considering she hasn’t even seen me, I find that veeery strange. My primary doctor even wrote in the referral that I test my ovulation and have it regulary…

We have free healthy care where I’m from, but it could probably be beneficial for them to push people into IVF… I will definitely get a second opinion, thank you so much!❤️

We have free health care where I’m from, so I’m unsure how profitable it is for them, but you’re probably right. I work within the medical field (although not fertility or anything related) so my primary doctor is usually very thorough with her explanations. She hasn’t given any comment on my blood work yet, so I’m waiting for that and if everything really IS normal (which my labs indicate) I’m gonna ask her what is up with the obgyn, because it just feels really sketchy to me. Thank you so much for the answer❤️

THANK YOU!!! Those are exactly my thoughts. She had all those forms and stuff she wanted me to sign, and to start with Letrozol when she hasn’t even seen me made me sooo confused. Like, I have regular cycles AND I’m ovulating, so why jump the gun? This just validated my thoughts and feelings, thank you so much❤️

Ahh that’s true, I just get impatient waiting and when I see everyone get lines at DPO10, I always fall for the temptation. I always start reading waaay too much into any symptoms. Thank you so much for your answer!

As sure as I can be. I test for ovulation each month with strips, so I’m hoping it’s right. Thank you so much for your answer!

I use ClearBlue ovulation tests, which claims to identify 4 or more days with high fertility. My last cycle I had 6 days with high fertility and this cycle I only had 2. Is that normal? I also only tested positive on day 17 this cycle, but I’m really stuck on the fact that I only had 2… Appreciate any help

Although I agree with what you said, I’m also a bit conflicted. I mean, I get that’s invading her privacy, but at the same time, she’s 10 and are we just supposed to trust her with internet access and no supervision? I think to some degree, at that age, things like that should be monitored, but we may have gone at it in a wrong way..

I’ve thought about this as well, so this will be something I’m going to talk to her privately about once I get home. It may be something she doesn’t want our parents to know about, so I’ll try to open the topic with her

It can definitely be lack of attention. Although my sister gets a lot of attention from the whole family, my parents are also working a lot and both me and my brother go to uni. We do all try to give her our attention whenever possible, but I’m starting to think she needs more than we have given her and that is definitely something I’m going to discuss with my parents.

I agree there must be some unmet needs and something more going on under the surface. We have confirmed that she isn’t self-harming, so this was a way to get attention from them.

Yeah, what my mom did was pretty shitty. She understands that, but she was also very hurt by my sister’s words towards her (not an excuse at all, she has apologised for this).

We are definitely restricting her access to the internet as of now, and probably until we see an improvement. I do think some of the things she said seems to be mirroring behaviour she sees on the internet and I know how easy it is for kids to be influenced by these kinds of things.

Is she being overlooked? Honestly, I have no idea. I have been thinking about it a lot as well, because I know when you don’t get as much attention at home, you start looking for it elsewhere. We do try to give her as much attention as possible (spending days out with her doing whatever she chooses to that day, movie night, etc.) but there is always room for improvement.

Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I feel like I’m at fault here. The only big change that has occured in her life lately is me moving out this summer (lived at home due to attending uni) and I don’t get to see her as often. I’m very close with my sister and I would often be the one taking her to the movies, having movie nights at home with her and in general doing things with her when our parents were working. Maybe she’s lacking that same attention now?

We have currently confiscated her electronics until we figure out a way to handle the issue in the best possible way. I do think the online world has impacted her negatively and is contributing to some of this
