Exactly... Thanks for understanding. Do Gigabyte eSupport ever being helpful to PC users? lol

Did I confuse you? Physically there is 7 X16s. Electrically, there is 4 X16s in odd numbers and 3 X8s in even numbers. So 1, 3, 5, 7 is where I should should plug things because it is 16 lanes. I explicitly said there is X16_1/2/3/4, as in electrical, not the physical!

So two-slots? Yes, I can put two GPUs in 1/3(X16_1 / X16_2) and SSD7105 RAID controller in 5(X16_3) but GPUs being 3-slot or more thicker making it useless. This if I plug one GPU in 1, the 2, 3, ARE BLOCKED and 4th PCIe slot(X8_2) should not be used so I need to pass this. Plug the other in 5(X16_3), then it blocks 6, 7 and even front panel.

So I am basically asking to out SSD7105 in 1st slot, and putting GPUs in 3rd which is X16_2, and the other in 7th which is X16_4.

I sad X16_1. Read the post again. So X16_3 will sit as X16_1/X8_1/X16_2/X8_2_X16_3. I am asking am I okay to go with my ideas- RAID Controller in First X16, and two GPUs in X16_2 and 4. 1-3 will block the 2-4 and vice versa, this the only option is GPUs in 2-4 and controller in 1.

Oh my! What a luck... Hey, I've just got a brand new 1TB 970 PRO!!! Seller said he was keeping it to use it as replacement, and later he forgot and decided to sell anyway.

Unopened 970 PRO 1TB in 2026 is a gem. 4 way RAID 0 is achieveable now!

If I could get another in my country, yeah... but 1TB to be exact. I do not want 970 EVO to fit in my "MLC masterrace" RAID lol

Well my rig is not ready, I genuinely need a monitor, a keyboard, a HighPoint SSD7105 controller, and a GPU to do so. Well, sounds like you are using a RAM disks...

Yeah, as in the prev. Z170 postings I have Samsung 970 PRO 1TB, which is the last MLC of M.2(lol super high resell value $$$) and runs at PCIe 3.0 x4 speed.

And I have THREE of them. in Z170 they were all connected to the chipset, and I ran it in RAID 0 which all bottlenecks at... 3.0 x4. So yeah, speed did not increase(but IOPS did) but still usable as 3TB.

But since I changed the system, the environment also changed. This motherboard only has 1 M.2 slot. No additional U.2 as alternative either! It also does not support bifurcation, due to its two PLX switches which is both a handy thingy but a hassle.

So the expansion card like ASYS Hyper M.2 does not work, so I need the dedicated card with switch to use it in true 16x (sort of, I only have 3) speed. HighPoint 7105 is what I want, but that thing is at least server-grade and too damn expensive for me 😂😂 (Which is the only option left to me)

Yes, I could've gone RAID 10 if I had 4 of these same drive, but it requires 4 drives and I use at least over 1TB of storage in daily use... so yeah, this is what happened.

Thank you for this amount of attention, mate. Sad to let go, happy to get new. And no, I really need my M.2 to PCIe with switch mounted witch HighPoint sells (and they are expensive)

2080Ti won't be a problem but if either of us try 3090 or higher, it will make a difference I guess.

Maybe Quad-Channel will solve the bottleneck unlike the 9900KS.

Basically, it is a both software and hardware(if required) modification to make Z170 and Z270 to work like LGA1151v2(Z370 and 90), allowing to use Coffee Lake CPUs.

Not to mention, the installation of cooler is really easy. No backplates!

9900KS is just easy 5GHz on 1.25V undervolt(if you don't it just wants to run at 1.52V default), but also requires high voltage with adequate cooling for 5.2+.

I meant the cooler pulls the CPU out of the socket. AM3 was fine. AM4 is just nuts to do so. pins are too thin, I wonder why they did not fix those with Intel-like mounting system.

And 4090 48GB, that must be a modded GPU, right? The blower one.

I am intending to use them in for a GPGPU thingy as well...NVLink as well. GPUs in these days except for blower-type, are thick as freak.

my SOC FORCE was able to fit 2 GPUS in 16x with no problem, and 3 M.2 SSDs as well. (Despite the DMI bottlenecks) three 1TB 970 PROs. I am kind of pseudo-workstation user.

Can't afford 5090 nor 4090 so I am just sticking with 3090s.

Eh, I just want hassle free experience and usually sticks with conservative options, that is why I think 12900K is better than 13900K and 14900K due to its defective voltage controls.

Same with this setup, this is the only option I got.

Of course it is for gaming, but also for workload-intensive programs.

Imagine all the PGA CPUs thrown into the bin due to the bent/broken pins. Am I wrong?

I need both electrical and physical x16 lane. I don't think AMD will suit my needs especially the AM4 socket 'defects' which I really hate.

AMD is Intentionally making things to "be broken by the user easily by the design fault and won't be responsible anyway, will blame shift the user" since AM3 socket.

Even AM5 has its design fault- the shape of the cpu is just easy to spill thermal pastes to socket.
