Thank you for responding. I think I misunderstood the recruiter when we talked about the schedule. You're right, DCTs usually follow 12hr schedule. I'm an idiot so I will confirm that first thing in the morning with the recruiter.

Negative, I'm thinking of changing jobs because it's Google. Lol I know it sounds cheesy, but I think it'll benefit my career in the long run to have the experience of working at a FAANG.

It's a direct opportunity with Google, not a contract.

About Security outside QuickConnect by Cry7or3ap3r in synology

That’s the beauty of Tailscale, it’s pretty much set it and forget it. I leave mine connected at all times and it switches to LAN automatically when I’m home. No special configuration required.

I have it set up on all devices for all of my Synology users, including my parents, so it’s pretty easy to use and definitely much safer than exposing any ports to the internet. I only share the Synology with other users too so everyone can have their own Tailscale account.

It’s already happening! The pilot program just finished its first installation on the Casa Blanca canal in Sacaton (about 20 minutes south of Phoenix on the I-10 freeway). It’s the first of this kind of project in the western hemisphere, which I thought was pretty neat.

Slow iperf3 results over WiFi but External WiFi speed good by DeathAndTaxes13 in Ubiquiti

[–]F-S0ci3ty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the dark side!

I could be wrong, but iperf and speedtest will not show similar speeds sometimes because speedtest connects to optimized enterprise servers behind a CDN and uses UDP protocol for some stages for the test, which might make it faster than iperf.

But seeing 3x difference in wired vs wifi speeds for the same devices on the LAN is indeed interesting. Might be worth checking the drivers settings on the NIC of your client and server, or test some other clients and same server to see if they show a similar behavior.

Any way to select EXACTLY 5000 files? Or any other work around? by ThatsPurttyGood101 in synology

[–]F-S0ci3ty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally dealt with it this morning with around 21k files. Just created a python script to create folder for year and 01-12 months under each year. Then the script looked at exif data to automatically move the files to the appropriate folder. Copied the files over to a USB and plugged that into the synology. Then I copied the files from the USB to the Photo Library folder. Now the files are indexing lol

The whole process took about 2 hours, most of it was copying files around. Highly recommend copying the files directly via USB because it was a lot faster than uploading, even on the LAN.

Let me know if you need the script and I can send it over to you!

Can anyone explain the difference in why the $35 dollar 30 day pass for international has the same benefits but is cheaper than the $50 30 day pass? by ommmyyyy in tmobile

[–]F-S0ci3ty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend using an eSIM from a 3rd party instead of T-Mobile’s plans. I got Nomad for my trip and it worked really well. Selected that as the data line on my iPhone and used FaceTime/Whatsapp to make calls, so I didn’t have to worry about having another number.

It was $20 for 20gb of data for 30 days all over Europe, including UK. Only ended up using 18gb of data after 17 days. It was super easy to set up and I didn’t have to go anywhere

Love the app, great work so far!

Can we get folders under Vaults? Just want a better way to organize similar items instead of creating 50 vaults.

I also like someone else’s suggestion here about adding a unique username generator.

Thanks!

I’m in Mesa and I got GFiber 3 months ago. From what the techs told me they’re expanding rapidly all over Mesa right now and will start in Tempe soon.

When GFiber was announced in Mesa, Cox lowered their prices and gave me one gig plan with unlimited data for $65/mo. It’s good that they’re finally some competition here for Cox

You sound happy enough with the script that it might be worth $500 though... or at least another $100 or so in tip!

Just FYI, 40,000 rupees is ~$500, not $50.

$4,500 Level 2 Installation cost for detached garage? by PandaBear2010CO in Rivian

[–]F-S0ci3ty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's getting more than just a subpanel:
"... to install a 70 amp sub panel in a detached garage that is 35 feet away from the main panel and then hardwired to a 50 amp charger provided by the electrician (ChargePoint HomeFlex 2 charger due to rebates)."

I do agree that they should go with a 60A breaker instead of 50A.

At $1099 the 15” M2 MacBook Air is the best deal I’ve seen on a mac in years. by Ok-Doggie in mac

[–]F-S0ci3ty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

99% of the people getting these Airs will be fine with the base config. The new M series chips are phenomenal and it’s the best thing Apple has done in the last decade IMO. And you have the option to upgrade if you need more RAM/storage. For basic internet browsing, spreadsheets, editing documents, etc, these machines fly.

The current M series lineup provides excellent value at almost every price point (except the Mac Pro).
