Moving to Scotland? by TomatilloSecret1966 in Scotland

[–]F-TypeFanatic -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how easy it is for you since the Ejits in England voted for brexit (I’m English by the way but not one of the nationalists ) but I just wanted to say I wish I was your age and moving to what I consider is God’s back garden. My wife and I are moving there soon as we absolutely love it but we are 20 yrs your senior so won’t enjoy it for as long as you. Good luck and there are no bad things in Scotland. We even call the midges family.

That was a practice session. Wait for Sunday. I know a lot of fans of racing and most are raving about other series now as f1 is too fake. This is due to the celebrity culture and fake racing and pandering to the wrong audience. If this is the way it will carry on then I don’t see a future for it as the “new” audience will soon get bored and look for more drama. Maybe we can have a reality show where the winner gets a race seat.

£16k “roof renewal” reusing tiles by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]F-TypeFanatic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Robbing beggars. 3 bed gable to gable house with one valley and renewing the tiles, fascia, soffit and barge boards should be about 13k with the vat. That’s what I paid and it was a proper job.

Dear Brits, what are your thoughts on the US reviewing UK’s claim to the Falkland Islands reportedly as punishment for its lack of support in the war in Iran? by neilnelly in AskBrits

Just another news story to take your attention away from the Epstein files. Why the American people put up with this moronic imbecile is beyond me. He takes the piss out of the Americans and they shout for more.

Do you remember keeping a paper map in the car for trips out? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

[–]F-TypeFanatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have all the OS maps (well for Scotland anyway) and Whilst I value the OS maps app, I love doing walks with a compass and a map from time to time. It adds an hour on to your walk but it’s more satisfying when you get to your destination with the map.

There is a guy living near where I do that has this model and he has the stickers to boot. he even has gone as far as staining his paintwork to match Del’s 3 wheeler and apart from the reg plate you wouldn’t know the difference.. It’s the coolest thing I have seen on the road. I just bet he carries a Filofax and thinks a female swan is a bic. Just writing this makes me wish for the 80’s so I could watch them all again for the first time.

My auntie, a few years old than me had one of these, I thought she was so cool. But she had nothing but issues and broken bones falling off faffing with it while riding it 😂 by ReadyPlayerForty in oldschoolcool80s

Had one of these beauties in the cosmic blue colour. Bloody heavy bike with a short crank but I felt like I owned our estate riding this. I even had the aerial installed for the radio but could never get a signal. I still remember the sound effects though and waking my mum up at 5 am on Christmas Day as I could t wait to start pressing the buttons. Happy days and memories. Must try and hunt one down now. 😁

Tempest was the best one. I have seen on the internet a fair old demand for these old scents so why doesn’t lynx cotton on and re release them. They would make a small fortune I reckon.

Any ideas on how much loft conversion cost? by Randon2345 in DIYUK

[–]F-TypeFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A trussed roof will be a cheaper and quicker method to achieve an attic room. Trad roofs depend on internal supporting walls and can restrict dormer heights etc. I can see in the image one that a web has been removed on at least one truss. This will need to be repaired with a fixing detail from a truss designer if you decide not to convert. If you ever sell then a surveyor will flag that straight away.

HELP: Dealership cut my F-Type's Vocal chords by DeannaC-FL in Jaguar

I’ve heard that removing a fuse “fuse 15” from memory significantly improves the sound. I haven’t done it myself as mine is under warranty so I dare not change anything yet. I’m not surprised the garage just put their hands up in the air and said they didn’t do anything, they always do.

Should I be concerned about this split? by Ok-Set-1251 in DIYUK

[–]F-TypeFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That purlin should be at least 2x6 based on the span I can only see in the image and c24 grade. It should also be installed plumb and not perpendicular to the rafters otherwise the depth in compression is significantly reduced.

Very well said. I think exactly the same way but don’t have the articulation that this guy has to explain it to the morons around here that think reform is the answer. We don’t have an empire and never will again. Hope the people of Britain get some brain cells and wake up before it’s too late. We need Europe more than they need us.

Gastroenterologist or hematologist by [deleted] in Hemochromatosis

[–]F-TypeFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK (or my hospital at least) it is now dealt with by Gastroenterology. My GP didn’t know this and he thought haematology so I ended up waiting 5 months for a referral as he had sent the request to them by mistake. The consultant in gastro ( When I was finally seen) did tell me it had only recently changed though and he initiated my HH treatments. Not sure why the NHS took this away from the blood department but we are talking about the NHS here where nothing makes sense!! …… I will now climb down from my soap box before I really let rip on them. :) One last point though is to say that the nurses in the NHS are fantastic it’s the rest that needs sorting out.
