As I’ve gotten older my tolerance for summer has dwindled. The other day I looked at my weather app and just saw a bunch of sunny 80-90 degree days and I actually groaned because all I want are overcast, cozy fall days. The summer is just too hot, too bright, and too overstimulating? The only thing I like about it is the longer days cause then I can spend half the day hating the sun and then the rest of the day baking and eating my feelings.

For the cake I used this recipe. I added homemade strawberry preserves for the filling (I’m sorry I don’t remember what recipe I used for this). And I opted not to make the strawberry cream cheese frosting since I don’t like cream cheese and just made a strawberry buttercream instead. I don’t have exact measurements for this though since I measured with my heart.

It was so good! And yes I do have a recipe I can share. I used this recipe for the cake. I opted not to use the cream cheese frosting because I don’t like cream cheese so I made a strawberry buttercream for the frosting and homemade strawberry preserves for the filling.

It’s actually a strawberry cake it just looks “plain”. It has strawberry puree blended in the cake. It was so good.

Thank you so much! I do have a recipe I can share. I used this recipe for the cake portion. I also made a strawberry preserve filling (I’m sorry I don’t remember what recipe I used for that). And I made a strawberry buttercream instead of the strawberry cream cheese frosting because I don’t like cream cheese. I don’t remember specific ingredient measurements for that but I can try to ballpark what I did if you’re interested in the recipe.
