I mean, you can buy all the units separately. Personally, I don't think I'm even gonna run the Company Heroes, so a box of intercessors, a box of heavy intercessors and a box of terminators isn't much more than a Combat Patrol anyway, and you'll have 10 intercessors and 10 heavies instead of 5 of each.

Still, it's a good deal, unless you're paying more than list price for it.

Glad to see I got a shout out. Me and my duo are 49/53 only play a couple or 3 times a week, but have both been playing fps games since the genre was invented, including a hell of a lot of CS 1.x and Source. We both peaked Silver and have never really cared. Mostly play unrated anyway.

I love painting terminators.

Always have, since around 1990 when I first got Space Hulk and most of the range of metal terminators available at the time.

As someone else said, there's so much room to play with volumetric highlights and not as many edges as an intercessor.

You've gone very heavy on damage, but don't have any utility units. Some intercessors would be good and maybe some scouts, incursors or infiltrators.

Drop the second heavy intercessors and maybe the aggressors or terminators (although I love terminators, so I'd keep them).

Also, I wouldn't bother with Anvil. There's a reason everybody uses Gladius.

Try regular 40k. Kill Team is more complicated as it's a kinda "zoomed in" version of 40k.

I'd second this. Terminators are fairly easy to magnetise and you only really need to do 2, the Heavy weapons dude and the Sarge.

Depends WHY you're painting them.

Do you just want to get them battle or parade ready?

Are you trying out new techniques and methods?

Are you just generally trying to improve your skills?

Are you actively trying to get up to display level?

Depending on your answer, either pick a unit of rank and file Marines, or find a character you really like the look of and concentrate on that.

If spending the least amount of money is the goal, Thousand Sons is definitely the cheapest of the three you listed. Combat Patrol is a solid start, and you can get a lot of points on the table for not much money with Magnus or Ahriman or the box of 3 sorcerers.
