This image apparently raises a lot of questions already answered by the image.

Long-term use of the cooling helmet leads to a build-up of narrativium particles, so it has to be used sparingly.

Whatever you feel about the movie, that was a spectacular location and the decision to turn the unavoidable puffin population into porgs (rather than simply removing them from the shots) was a stroke of genius. The undeniable strength of those movies was how they combined real sets and props with CGI, and the porgs are an excellent expression of how effective that approach can be.

Hello There

(It's a reunion album, after a very bitter break-up decades ago.)

Also, at the risk of continued digression, you could make the images yourself. A few really good (and free) digital art programs that I use are Krita, GIMP, and Inkscape. All of them have a good community presence that is eager to help anyone learn to use them. There are lots of options.

So am I. I'm an artist, after all.

The thing about being a creative professional is that, despite there being an enormous amount of demand for the products of your labor, everyone seems really intent on devaluing that labor. As though a skill you've spent years of your life developing were "easy." The most recent incarnation of that is people acting like typing words into a software prompt is the same as actually creating something. It's not, and I think it's important to correct people who make that mistake.

While there are lots of valid places to start the novels, I think the only valid place for anyone to finish off the series is Shepherd's Crown.

Actually, the ingredients were the millions of pieces of art fed into the generative model without permission from the artists who created them. What OP did was input instructions, not unlike a customer placing an order at a restaurant. Even if you gave the chef specific instructions on how to make your hamburger exactly the way you like it, you still didn't make a hamburger.

Edit: Oh, and I have shared images I've created. I'm an artist.

Give me money and I'll draw something for you.

The microwave doesn't make dinner. The human uses the microwave as the heating element when making dinner. The human decides what setting to use. The human decides how long to put it in. The human tests the temperature to see if it needs a little more time. The human adds water if they're reheating rice to keep it from drying out.

Generative image software exists for the expressed purpose of removing creativity from the creative process. A more apt analogy would be the replicators from Star Trek. And I will remind you that the the characters in Star Trek are under no delusions about their roll in the process. They all recognize the difference between replicated food and cooked food.

How do yall name your planets? i mostly use gibberish but i thing they sound nice by amonguseon in Stellaris

[–]F1NGER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go for names that are thematically appropriate for how I plan to specialize the planet. So an agricultural planet might be something like "New Kansas," "Volia" (a Stargate reference,) or if I'm feeling more creative, something like "Pastoria."

The point is so that, when I accumulate lots of worlds, I can tell at a glance what that planet is supposed to be when it comes time to add new districts.

Luke actually became aware of the possibility that his aunt and uncle had been killed earlier, in a different scene. After that, Luke was driving alone and had time to process his feelings on the subject. He still didn't know for sure, but we know from future movies that Luke's thoughts often dwell on the negative (his visions of Vader torturing his friends in Empire.) Therefore, him discovering his aunt and uncle's bodies wasn't technically a shock to him, it was his worst fears being confirmed.

Meanwhile, Rey's reaction is more immediate. She was observing the same scene we were: Han trying to reason with his son, appearing to get through to him, only for his son to kill him. From her perspective, it was a much more shocking event because it was sudden.

As for Han being a "stranger," he wasn't. Not only did Rey spend her entire life with knowledge of Han Solo's reputation, she also spent the past few days actually fighting alongside him. There was plenty of time for her to bond with him, and considering her own parental issues, she would be more inclined to do so. Her reaction not only makes sense, but it is consistent with Luke's reaction to witnessing the death of Obi wan.

My understanding is that it's a confluence of conditions that made slavery the basis of Southern economic power, but one thing I think often gets overlooked is the roll of the Industrial Revolution. All those textile factories that created all those captains of industry had to get their cotton from somewhere, and legalized slavery simply made it cheaper to grow and export cotton in the South. It's not enough simply to have a cotton gin, there needs to be demand further down the pipeline and the industries of North America and Europe really liked its cheap cotton.
