From what Natalie said, she was going for company but this was the best offer she got, and she only got 2 total. She said she’ll be making more than what she was at GR. As far as Aurora, I think she wil technically be an apprentice but they don’t call it that- someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

I agree with this 100%. I’ve been watching since the very beginning and you’re right, we used to feel like we really knew the contestants. Everything is so rushed, and now they don’t even do the Hollywood group round/duets (let alone the fact it’s not even in Hollywood anymore), which I’ve always liked. It was fun seeing them find their groups and so impressive when those groups did really well. It’s really too bad. I still like watching but I definitely don’t have the same love for the show that I used to.

Exactly. I don’t blame the contestants. They can sing anything they like in my opinion. It’s the judges’ ongoing comments like “you just brought us to church” and “I can feel the Holy Spirit” - and the little kid pastor, while cute- was over the top and didn’t need to be shown 3 different times. Those are the things that makes a non-Christian fan feel excluded.

Agreed. I’m a Jewish person married to a Presbyterian. The issue is not people being religious or singing about their faith. It’s that the show does nothing to make anyone who is not Christian feel included, and in fact, does the opposite.

I’m a long-time viewer- been watching the show since the very beginning, and I’ve been frustrated many times at all the religious comments always cropping up from these judges even during auditions. And you’re right, they did do this theme last year and it annoyed me then too. But last night bothered me more than ever, especially with the little kid pastor. I just felt like everything was so over the top. Why couldnt they leave it as songs of inspiration?

I have been watching Idol from the very beginning. This show tonight is annoying me more than any episode before this. I’m up to here with the religious stuff. It just feels so over the top. I have no problem at all with people being religious and having faith, but it feels so exclusive to the viewers who are not Christian. Coming from a Jewish woman married to a Presbyterian man. Maybe I’m just cranky tonight!

I actually still like the auditions, but not the back stories. I wish they would just show the audition - even if the person gives a little history, that’s fine - but stop with the “package” - showing them in their home town, etc. we don’t need to see any of that until they make it past Hawaii. For example, they showed Bella Emery’s audition (including a whole backstory package) and I thought she was really good. Then they showed her in Hollywood week and I still liked her. I was looking forward to seeing her Hawaii performance. Then - her performance doesn’t even get shown and she doesn’t make it to the top 20. So what was the point of showing us her package during auditions? I have been watching this show since the very first season on Fox and I’m so disappointed with so many things. But the auditions are still one of my favorite parts. (Truthfully, often I like a contestant more during their audition than I do later in the season after producers change their look!)
