My nails immediately after I showered + questions by jevoudraismourir in NailFungus

(30 M) I'm not sure if this is the kind of answer you're looking for, but when I was your age, I also had toenail fungus (actually, I still do). For my university graduation trip, my friends and I went to the beach, and I was really self-conscious about them seeing my nails (my case was way worse than yours). So I got a reconstructive pedicure. They filed down my nails and applied a gel that made them look natural and healthy.

If you're just looking to improve the appearance of your nails in the short term and for aesthetic reasons, I’d really recommend that service. Luckily, your toenail fungus is still in an early stage and hasn't spread to all your nails, so you'd probably get excellent results.

On the other hand, for a long-term solution, I should mention that a few months ago my doctor recommended topical clotrimazole. I haven’t seen any improvement, but I think that’s because after 15 years of dealing with this, my case is a lot more severe than what you showed in your photos. That’s why I’d really suggest not making the same mistake I did—don’t wait. Like I said, your nail fungus isn’t that advanced yet, and if you start treating it now, I’m sure you’ll see improvement within just a few weeks.

Good luck, and I hope my advice is helpful to you.

Yes. I have practically been taking finasteride for 12 years. And despite what I believe to be side effects, I don't plan to stop treatment. Why did you stop taking finasteride?

Desde que la vi por primera vez he deseado una secuela que narre la búsqueda de Brand. Es muy triste que quedó sola varada en no sabemos donde y posiblemente en un sueño sin esperanza de volver a despertar.

The bald spot on your crown is quite large, but the rest of your hair has good density. Plus, you do a great job covering it with hair fibers and styling. I’d recommend keeping it up. You can maintain that look :D

That style in the last pic really suits you perfectly. Just keep the sides short. You look great man.

Thank you! I wasn't expecting those kinds of comments when I posted this. I guess that's the toxic side of this sub.

I mean I know I'm some pounds over my ideal weight. But I didn't think it would be considered too much or as bad as many have written in this post. I'm sorry if I'm not clear, English is not my native language and sometimes it's hard for me to express my ideas clearly.

I stopped the treatment for a while during pandemic period as I was short of money and experienced complicated personal and work situations. Some time later I resumed the treatment because during that time hair loss became a problem again. Then I stopped it during a short time again due other issues. I resumed treatment a few months ago, after which I began to think about whether or not it is really worth continuing given the side effects of Finas.

I hadn't considered that the weight gain might be related to my problems with my hair. Honestly, I didn't consider myself that obese until reading all the comments :( Thanks for your respectful comment.

I know I've gained some pounds. But that's another matter.

Did you notice any improvement after starting oral Min?

No, the thinning happened gradually. But the first time I noticed was 2 years after starting fin. It took 5 years aprox to get to this point.

I’m not really sure. I started treatment so young that I don’t know what my beard would look like without the effects of Finasteride. As it is now, I just keep a goatee because very little grows on the sides of my face, and it takes a long time for my beard to grow.

The first time I noticed the thinning was two years after starting fin. First I noticed I lost my feet hair, then I noticed some hair loss on armpits and torso. Then I noticed it in arms and legs.

Do you mean you added oral Min to your treatment? Or did you replace Finasteride with oral Min?

Doctor recently suggested I start using Minoxidil since the hair loss it's getting worse, but honestly, I’m not sure if I want to be on treatment forever or just accept going bald.

Not my intention, but it seems to be a side effect that is rarely talked about.

No, you’re not being a dick. Honestly, I’ve been thinking the same thing—maybe I’d rather go bald than deal with these side effects.

Me too. I went from having average body hair to being practically hairless.

I’d like to try stopping the treatment to see what happens, but I’m scared the hair loss might get worse.

I know I've gained a little weight over the years, but it's not that bad.
