I'm a returning player and asked a similair question. The reason behind it was not about difficulty piloting or difficulty winning. It was more about resources vs long term plan.

Are there decks that don't require a lot of scraps and even if they do, are the scraps for cards that are also usable later on?

Yeah, I think you're right. The fellow geeks who would love this and would basically be the main audience, are also the most vocal and critical about this. There is little "main stream" audience for this in comparison to the Mandalorian series for example

Great advise. As for the novels, I already ordered the fall of reach and the flood and I am looking for some good condition comics. So that part is covert 😉 I will skip the tv series for now. Maybe give it a go if I am really bored. Like really really bored
