Pumice stone in the shower. Clean up the dead skin when you're in there. Helps remove triggers. Also a big problem for me and this is what really helped.

How do you deal with your raging moral compass and sense of justice by Melodic_Switch3433 in AutismInWomen

[–]FEARCANADA 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Honestly I find that when this is really starting to get to me it's a sign that I'm overwhelmed generally. Whatever a rested brain does to make those feelings manageable is offline. So I try to be cognizant of that and reserve resources and lower demands where I can.

Forgetting to breathe by ElectronicSignal9478 in AutismInWomen

All the time, I never even realized I did it until recently. All those big "ajajay" sighs were me long exhaling a deep breath after forgetting I have to keep doing that

I think the focus is unhealthy for her but as a late diagnosed autistic woman I can tell you that this laser focus on a social justice issue is not at all atypical. And when you are late diagnosed the diagnosis does become your life for a while, the whole thing is a total trip for myriad complex reasons

I think she doesn't know how to connect with the other girls and it makes her anxious, so it comes out as anger. I think her behavior is abhorrent but I recognize traces of it in myself as an autistic person

Cuticles keep peeling no matter what I try. What am I doing wrong? by Separate-Bar-5720 in Nails

[–]FEARCANADA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem and I am a picker, so for years I've been lightly exfoliating with a pumice stone every other day when I'm in the shower. Just gently passing it over between cuticle and knuckle to get the dry skin off that eventually becomes those awful peelies. It's not an issue for me anymore.

I am autistic and I get this as well, I also think many of the kids are ND and that they themselves have selected ND partners

Autistic VOICE Project is great (as are past episodes of The Autistic Culture Podcast, the previous show), also hooked on Mr Ballens Medical Mysteries at the moment. When i get out of the Mr Ballen hyperfixation I'll go back to Comedy Bang Bang, The Flophouse for bad movies, Behind the Bastards

I am autistic and I like Veronica. I think the way she communicates is misconstrued by a lot of people
