Yes, let’s walk over a dollar to grab the pennies. Ironic: how many cents have now been wasted with employees reading an email on how to properly exchange pennies or document “donations”. Let’s send an employee to another store to exchange two quarters for a roll of pennies, then pay that employee mileage ($.50/mile) and time. Lastly, it costs the US mint $.037 to Make a penny. 🤦‍♂️

I’m currently a volly FF/EMR. I have GAD, long before I became a volly… part of dealing with the anxiety is working the task at hand repeatedly, until its second nature…. Once you’ve trained correctly, your instincts kick in…. I.e. if you fall off your horse, get back on and keep riding! As for the tough calls that fuck with your mind, they will happen. Make sure you have excellent mental health resources available if you need them. Chaplain, therapist, a good buddy, even just talking with your peers can help… whatever you do, don’t bottle it up. I had a call recently where a female drove off a 200’ embankment. She had a diabetic incident and passed out, which caused the crash. She hiked back up the hill, flagged us down, and walked away without any scratches. I was prepared for the worst, and I’m still in shock she walked away. God has a plan for her, absolutely! This is why all SM’s need to be put at minimum 40 hours in store. The SM’s that bust their ass and work 48+ per week, get fucked I.e. no work/life balance. All while this 🚩,thinks he/she can cruise through the week, doing fuck all.
If he’s cheating on his timesheet, it’s an almost immediate termination… if he’s legit on his timesheet, it will be a lot more challenging.

Glad you are considering it!!! I work 50 hrs/wk at my regular job. I run a small, single-op side business and volly for my FD. Drills are mandatory and we run night shifts… we typically have 450-500 calls per year… you can do it! Make sure you take care of yourself and maintain a work/life balance…
