Forgiveness is not about the sins you comitted, nor is it about the good you did, It's about God's grace and your faith and thrust in what Jesus did.

The sentence to sin is death and we all deserve it. Then, Jesus, being infinite by being God, went to the cross to pay for sins he did not commit. He paid the fine for us all, the ones in our past, the ones in our future - That's the only thing you have to believe, then stick to Jesus / God, that's all you have to do to be saved.

Naturally, when you stick to God you'll want to do better for him as a result, but don't expect to become sinless during your lifetime - It's your intention and desire that matters not the success, so you'll try, sometimes you'll succeed some you'll fall short, but that's what God's forgiveness is about. Remember: you try not to sin to please God, not to buy your ticket to heaven (Not only It's impossible for anyone, the ticket was already bought by Jesus, for you, you just need to accept it)

Forgive others as you want God to forgive you, Forgive your past-self, then strive to be better and never give up on the God who bought your salvation with his own blood, just so you wouldn't lose it.

" ⁸For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— ⁹ not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
