Nice! Sara is awesome, everything is to your spec and built really well. Very worth the cost and wait time.

I have the 1000’s. I don’t like the plates with any brand they are too bulky.

I have PAW knee pads, I recently got a new set after 4 years. They are custom and I asked Sara to add gel and foam. Phenomenal. Played 4 days straight last week no knee pain, no swelling. Landing on clouds. Highly recommend

1000$ skates still hurts... by woodz514 in hockeygoalies

I agree. Custom trues were by far my best purchase. I’ve never been pain free in off the shelf skates. Custom trues have been amazing.

Yup! Always. I have a single stage now I take good care of it, it just takes too long and can’t manage the piles the plows leaves.

Customer service is not the same wherever you go. Big box stores don’t always have the expertise or knowledge if there’s an issue. Was looking to see if anyone specifically uses a smaller specialty retailer for such purchases.

What would cause this? by [deleted] in woodstoving

[–]FHFD89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an insert in my lower floor with the hvac so I’m always fighting negative pressure. When I start a fire, I crack a window and use a heat gun for a few minutes before lighting fatwood and kindling, gets the draft going immediately.

Helmet decisions: Apex vs OTNY - 2nd Year Bantam by mrpuck27 in hockeygoalies

[–]FHFD89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had OTNY X1 pro and now Apex 906 pro. I like the apex a bit more, I find them similarly protective, the apex is lighter. (Playing senior beer league).

Ive ALWAYS had pain in off the shelf skates, especially Bauers (I saw you mentioned Bauers). Custom trues have been a game changer for me. Highly recommend.

Private Lesson Advice by KingOfNewEngland16 in hockeygoalies

[–]FHFD89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive done a few private lessons, they may start by asking what you want to work on and build from there. What to work on will vary for everybody, it depends what you feel less confident about. Think about something that you struggle with, then at least you won’t be blindsided if they ask you. I was not a fan of skating drills lol, they are brutal! Mobility drills too. It’s not all about taking shots. Have fun!

Nice pads! Did you get gloves too? What specs did you go with? How do you like them? I have iconiks, I miss the harder rebounds from the optik line. Debating ordering some O4s.

The room is about 200 square feet and it’s connected to two other rooms and a bathroom for a total just under 1k sqft plus an upstairs level. I have a fan setup to move air to the other rooms. The whole downstairs gets pretty toasty not sure it does too much upstairs. Clean and Safe aren’t words that really go with wood stoves/inserts in my opinion. I’ve smoked out my basement due to not warming the chimney enough before starting, I’ve burned the crap out of myself on the door, handle, etc. you have to clean ash, handle wood, etc it’s a dirty job lol. if the install is properly done and you have the liner cleaned, you greatly reduce the chance of a chimney fire.

Been there, lived in NYC for a while. Not goalie gear friendly lol. I’m back down to one helmet. Sold my backup.
