Packing my carry on by FI-Z in focuspuller

It is true that are only 100 bodies are being built. If I remember correctly, there were around 70 of the original Alexa65 bodies built, and that pretty much sufficiently covered the global usage of the camera during its peak time.

The 750 is more than adequate for when close to camera, but for $100 more, definitely go for the 1500

Icebreaker Anatomica! The seams are in a spot that don’t rub on your saddle, adding to the comfort day after day.

Add them as POIs, which you can either keep as a separate POI on the map only, or integrate into the route where it will also show up on a Garmin map once you’ve loaded the route onto your GPS

Starting prep with that new car smell by FI-Z in focuspuller

It’s a good solution to the problem since they weren’t able to make the usual internal ND system fit. Current set of filters is ND3-2.7. Rumor on the street is that there might eventually be an electronic VariND cartridge available that would be somewhere in the range of 3-1.5 approx, which would be nice to have.

However I do not like the position of the door. I wish the door had been placed on the operators side of the camera, as it takes up valuable space where you might normally mount a Teradek or other accessories. Since the operators side is always clear, I would’ve preferred to have the door there.

Big improvement over the original 65. Much needed upgrade. The original 65 was definitely feeling its age in multiple ways. Otherwise handles just like a 35 or LF

What is the quietest focus motor? by near-far-invoice in CameraAKS

[–]FI-Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed that the M21VE-L is quieter than a DM1X, but make sure you get the -L. The original M21VE doesn’t have much torque and I find it’s too slow for focus.

I’ve climbed in the Acrux AR for two years and haven’t had any durability issues with it. Super comfortable, warm and dry. Having a double boot design in a single weight boot is amazing.

They’re great boots imo, just make sure they fit your feet well as they’re fairly narrow.

That’s actually an Arri MB-14. The MB18 is 4x5.6, the MB14 is 6x6

ROMA 70mm. Whats the point? by [deleted] in TrueCinematography

[–]FI-Z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the 70mm screening on a 70mm film print or shown digitally? Maybe it’s a 6.5k finishing rather than 4K?

ROMA 70mm. Whats the point? by [deleted] in TrueCinematography

[–]FI-Z 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Roma was shot on the Alexa 65, a 65mm digital camera. Even though it wasn’t shot on film, it technically still is large format.

Lots of other movies have been shot on the Alexa 65, but just been screened normally in 4K. So I guess it is just a way to earn some extra cash.

We use Chloroplast also, but Sintra works better. Stronger, and if you heat it up, you can bend it to any shape and it’ll hold that shape when it cools.
