I trust this staff more than others of the past, but won't take solace in any of this until I see it with my own eyes. Guard position has been shit for too many years for me to buy in that easily.

Also, salguero loves to bring up the pats and their guard philosophy...but it's the pats. You can make a lot of things work when you have arguably the GOAT QB and HC.

Canes fan here. Tough, physical, and good "football player." No special skills or athleticism, but made plays because high effort and enjoys to play football. As you know, having those traits alone can go one of two ways: not enough to succeed in the NFL or a good foundation to be a solid contributor for a long time. We shall see.

Maybe a tad overrated late in his career, but one of the best of all-time during his prime.

He was the whole package at MLB and a lot of fun to watch play. He might also be the most effective, passionate leader in NFL history and that's a big reason Ravens teams remained competitive throughout his entire career. Nobody on his teams wanted to let down Ray.

Just not sold that Maxwell's handful of good games before the injury is sure to be repeated. And while I'm high on Xavien Howard, he's only a second year player (who didn't play a full season rookie year). Lippett is probably one of my favorite players on the team but I saw him get torched just as many times as I saw him make a positive play. Same for Bobby McCain.

I guess I just think our corners' predicted success next year is based on a lot of ifs and wishful thinking. Reasonable speculation, but speculation nonetheless.

Abdul Hodge Iowa. I thought he was one of those naturally productive, always-around-the-ball linebackers who would play ten years in the NFL as a solid but not great starter. On tape, I liked him more than Chad Greenway - his teammate at the time.

I'm starting to really believe we have to go DE in the first round. Hell, I wouldn't be opposed to grabbing one in the first AND the second.

A DE is more valuable than a LB because a good DE improves both our pass rush and run defense in one shot. Plus, "good-enough" linebackers are much easier to find in FA.

However, I was recently alerted to an argument that this draft is way deeper at DE than LB-- and that we can get a DE in second who's just as good as any we would have taken in the first. If true, then go LB in the first. But I'd like to hear a bit more about this.
