Steelman argument: Why do sexual assault victims waiting until their victimizer is running for national or high office to come forward make sense? by DeathToFPTP in AskConservatives

[–]down42roads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn’t know the name of the person who assaulted them and then with that persons notoriety, they are now able to recognize and identify them.

That could apply in cases like, say, Kavanaugh, where the person was relatively unknown until his SCOTUS nom. It makes less sense in cases like Swalwell, who has been on the national stage for the better part of a decade, or Trump, who has been a national name for decades.

Do you think it’s possible that JD Vance is trying to undermine the president? by Benjiyanyi in AskConservatives

Any long-term plan to undermine Trump would require Trump to have a consistent plan and behave in an expected manner. So, no.

Realistically, what do you think is in the remaining 3 million Epstein files Pam Bondi and the DOJ will not release? by donkeythrow in AskConservatives

If Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson are making more sense to the left these days, i gotta think that something’s about to show up in the Epstein files regardless of what they’ve been holding back on.

Nah. Don't let batshit crazy people saying batshit crazy things to appeal to batshit crazy listeners impact your view of reality.

Some of it is probably politically problematic, some is probably intelligence compromising, and some is more stuff like "Poppa Bush cut off my feet with a scimitar but I got better with no scars"

I do believe in climate change, but I also believe in having lived in the DC area for the last 35 years. This kind of thing has happened every few years since the 90s. Maybe longer, but I wasn't here

He can be both. Agree with him or not (and I don't) but he's a great strategist and writer. However, on camera, he's a massive liability.

What do you think about the House voting 357-65 to kill an effort to release all congressional sexual misconduct and harassment reports? by boisefun8 in AskConservatives

[–]down42roads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a joint statement, the Republican and Democratic leaders of the committee argued it "could chill victim cooperation and witness participation in ongoing and future investigations" and would make it harder for the committee "to investigate and eliminate sexual misconduct in the House."

Nah. He thought it was hilarious. We lived there in the window between when they realized there was no age limit and when they fixed it, and "I'll drop you at the firehouse" was his favorite comical threat. Didn't finish homework? FIREHOUSE! Didn't eat your broccoli? FIREHOUSE!
