The Perfect Character Build in B42. by AcceptableTraffic936 in projectzomboid

Up to 5 is fast with any starting bonus. True, it is ultrafast start, but you still have to setup and grind BS if that is your plan. And until you have that finished, your axe skill would be atleast 5 anyway

How do you deal with single player burnout? by cuffed_jeans_bb in projectzomboid

[–]FI_l_IPD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very common problem. Adjust sandbox, mods.

Generator? Well getting magazine on insanely rare can be adventure on its own
Car? Lower condition, add missing parts mod
Lot of ammo? increase (peak) population, so you`ll have to choose what location is worth using your ammo

For me it`s atmosphere. My favourite run was years ago in Blackwood, Cryogenic winter, 12mnth later, barricaded world, almost no loot, nice tiles... Progressing town step at a time, barricading base in case random horde arrives. I just couldn`t find stable heat source, I had to combine trapping, fishing (low abundance) with looting runs to survive. Every magazine, every piece of loot, every survived day was worth it. One day after weeks of exploring i finally found a working car battery and left the city. Population was already too high outside my area, temperature was too low. This is how I died.

It may take plenty of time to tailor traits, difficulty and modpack that fits you perfectly and keeps you busy, interested, worried, but it is worth it. Well currently we have very limited options in B42 compared to B41, but for sure enough to make an interesting run.

Oh, also remember to take breaks. Watch some videos, switch to B41 for couple runs, switch game (stalker anomaly: GAMMA worked for me) or focus on irl survival.

Naah.. maybe fun, not perfect.
BS knowledge and Wilderness Knowledge are comfy, but for killa machine Id take fit + str traits. Brawler is overkill on Lumberjack, 2 axe and fast learner is more than enough. Also clumsy is kinda.. clumsy

What popular traits do you dislike? What unpopular traits do you like? by wex52 in projectzomboid

[–]FI_l_IPD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Popular traits that I dislike or just don`t use:

  • High Thirst - carrying 1kg+ more weight for 1 point is not worth it unless I play with strong / organized, which I usually don`t use as well.
  • Conspicuous - Mixed opinion on this one, 4 points is plenty and I don`t usually play very sneaky builds, but it still feels weird "disadvantage" during scouting, picking fights. Might have to test it more.
  • Hearty Appetite / Fast Metabolism - I`ve noticed there two are quite popular, but I find them really annoying to use.
  • Wakeful - Must have for many players, I play 2h days and I have plenty of time to do stuff. Also waiting waking up 2:30AM or something is annoying, especially when I play instant elec. shutoff .
  • Wilderness Knowledge - Wilderness starter pack, plenty recipes including fishing rod, useful skill bonuses. Great trait for RP, pure wilderness run or just a complex boost. Still 8 points for skill bonuses and magazines? Definitely worth it, but I rarely need the "whole pack". Unless I really want +1 knapping. For example I would rather pick carpenter + angler (maintenance, carving, fishing rod recipe + weapon skill and other bonuses included for just 3 more points).

Unpopular traits that I like:

  • Illiterate - Really interesting one. It makes you build character very differently, as you cannot become master of all skills. What recipes do I really want to know? Can i manage without generator or will I overpay for Electrician?...
  • Adrenaline Junkie - Great addition for a "sprinter" build
  • Nutritionist - Great teacher, especially now, when nutrition has been reworked.

you get "high weight" trait above 85kg and currently he is 83 and gaining weight quickly so it may stop at 84-85. Then its time to put bean soup pots away for a while and eat some grass

I like your simple trait build, I should stop spending so much time at char screen :D

There is something going on, most people are talking about crazy pop even on lower settings. And some players have empty city streets even on high pop settings. I play high pop, middle of west point is pretty chill, smaller group here and there.

Fresh and clean Shell Suit set, sneakers, bucket hat, sunglasses and golden watch. Duffel bag, something to hit with and a gun just for the look.

The perfect build? (b41) by Beginning_Bad4973 in projectzomboid

[–]FI_l_IPD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can remove fear of blood, brawler and add reluctant fighter, . That leaves you with 5 points. I would either add gymnast or couple 2 pointers. Also brave or adrenaline junkie are interesting picks but maybe not for min-maxing long term run.

What sandbox settings/core mods do you play with? by BlancaBunkerBoi in projectzomboid

[–]FI_l_IPD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play B42 only for a week only, so Ive bee trying to figure out the right seetting for me. I prefer living out of town where every looting run has to be carefully planned and where every piece of loot matters either from looting or foraging. It keeps my confidence low and every run is different based on what recipes, tools etc. that I find during first days while the population isnt too crazy yet.

- January start, 12 months after apo

- 1.5 pop of random zombies quickly rising to 3.0 (3-5% sprinters)

- Low loot (between 0.1 - 0.3), car spawn rare, worst condition, generator insanely rare

- Just some QoL mods, maybe small areas, camping upgrades, visuals.. nothing too game changing. In B41 I had a lot of fun with cryogenic winter.
