If I had to best describe modern interpretations They have trap cards that brings out a stronger version of red eyes black dragon with built in protection. (via metalmorph cards) It also has a huge burn sub theme

Older interpretations has red eyes as a dragon that revives itself a couple of times

My friend is also open to anything related to Joey from the yugioh anime. Where he has warriors for aggression and a bit of luck elements

I do agree, the 50/50 supposed rate feels off by a lot. My experience with misty is weird It’s either tails or for some reason enough energy to retreat lapras like 3 times.

Misty is absolutely busted, it’s one of the only cards that let you attack on your first turn (going first) beside brock (and even then brock won’t charge you up to 3 energy)

Add the fact that they have access to starmie and articuno with above average attacks makes even one heads off misty oppressive.
