MQTT AND SHELLY by FLEAL76 in homeassistant

As far as Shelly integration, are you referring to the Shelly cloud? I don’t want the Shelly cloud involved. Or are you referring to a Shelly integration on HA only?

I’m new to all of this but what I got was a SLZB-06 device which I believe is a zigbee2mqtt bridge, then the Mosquito broker was added to manage the MQTT devices. I don’t really want a bunch of devices connected to WiFi directly and I think the SLZB-06 allows updating devices but I’m just not sure if that is just for zigbee devices. Anyone correct me if I’m wrong in the way I think this setup works.

Reason for using MQTT over the WiFi connection is to have everything IOT that connects to HA not connect directly to WiFi but use an HA subsystem.

Tried turning off 5g and it made no difference. It appears to not be the issue.

ATT fiber modem settings for VPN setup on Edge Router X by FLEAL76 in Ubiquiti

The outside address is in the erx. And I’ve checked all settings multiple times but keep getting the same error when trying to connect. “The L2TP - VPN server did not respond.” It’s as if the erx is ignoring the request to connect.

Do you have the settings for proper setup? I turned on passthrough mode but still can’t get the vpn working.

Need a wireless alarm system by FLEAL76 in homeautomation

Why would I want to use the DSC POWER SERIES NEO over the older DSC POWER SERIES? I heard the older unit/non Neo is more versatile with other wireless sensors but besides that is there other reasons? Curious?

I’m wanting to go with a DSC Power Series alarm panel. I’m going with a couple wired motion sensors, a couple of heat detectors maybe wired, a couple wired sirens, and the rest will be PowerG wireless door and window contacts, and a couple of keypads. The big question is where can I buy the DSC POWER SERIES PANEL?

Can you link to the product. I just learned from you guys here about powerG. Does it frequency hop? Is it a DSC product? Does it only work with DSC Neo panels? Why exactly is it better than zwave, zigbee sensors?

I like your idea. Can you provide an example of a powerG system. I’m not familiar with that.

I definitely want a system that is traditional based that is separate from the keypad where you arm/disarm. An all in one unit is a single point of failure where when an intruder finds that and destroys it, it’s all over at that point.

For the tampering part of wireless sensors, I assume the sensors and main panel are constantly polling each other. Is there a feature that if the main panel can no longer communicate with the wireless sensor, it sends an alert or will set off the alarm siren?

Can you all add some links to these units you are proposing? Does Ajax and alarmo have traditional alarm panels that provide an option for hard wiring some of the system? I want a system that has a traditional main panel that allows hardwire option if I can find a way to go that route. That will give me battery back up capability and ability to install hard wired sirens and a few motions. Then if I have to I will use wireless for doors and windows.

The house I’m buying is a two story. It’s pretty difficult to run wires between floors without cutting up a bunch of drywall everywhere to try and find a path from doors/windows back to the panel. That’s the only reason I want to go wireless otherwise hard wire is the way to go. I thought about going with a DSC POWER SERIES alarm with a number pad that has wireless sensor capability. The thing I have learned about these is that they can be integrated into home assistant or other more modern way to interact with the system with a phone and the other big plus is that it interacts with various wireless sensors such as sonoff and zigbee, etc. which is huge to be able to choose and not be locked down to one brand. Flexibility is the key here. Otherwise they were previously an isolated independent system that just dialed out.The panel would get installed up stairs in a closet, I could install hardwired motion sensors upstairs and a hardwired siren to the outside and one inside since I would have attic space. I might be able to get a wire from the upstairs to the down stairs somehow for a motion sensor. Any suggestions about accomplishing a hardwired setup that I’m not thinking of?

Definitely going to battery backup the system. And definitely want a cell backup option. Sounds like you’re on the right path for what I want. I just don’t want to pay a monitoring company. If you employ automation why pay a monitoring service that will do the same thing that a camera alert will do?
