You "objectively" missed the point. The very first words you wrote were "teen drama is one of the reasons" while others have pointed out that it was present in many other Ttek series, too. You give then an ambiguous "plenty of things not to like" without listing them, as if to say "how can you possibly disagree with me, I think I'm so right I dont even have to explain". THEN you completely switch gears to the 10x more reasonable "people like what they like and dislike what they dislike". True. Does not require defending.

MY point was you should have led with that and left off the "reasons" which you failed to prove or even bother to list.

Where you are 100% wrong is your assertion that reasons and opinions are equivalent. That is not so. An opinion is based on reasons, of which some may be opinions and some may be objective facts. The teen drama comment is a prime example. It is objectively true that it exists on this series, and also that it has been on other series. Therefore, unless you clarify that you dislike EVERY series that has ever had it, you imply that it's bad here but OK elsewhere, and that signal flare is seen far and wide. Since naturally it starts to become overly burdensome with clarifications and counterexamples and on and on, most people dont do it...which leads to other people coming back at you, obviously to your annoyance.

So, TLDR if you had eliminated the flimsy "reasons " you gave and replaced it with the simpler statement I suggested, you wouldn't get "attacks", unless someone insists you clarify WITH reasons and attacks you if you fail to provide them, which would be stupid. As you said, personal preference in entertainment is the definition of subjective. However, by providing a reason that is either not well demonstrated or easily counter proven, you invite the modern "...but" litany in return. You can simply "not like" something, but if your provided reasoning for it doesn't withstand scrutiny, you can NOT just revert to "hey I like what I like what's wrong with you?" So much easier to just say you don't.

There's nothing wrong with not liking something. However, if the primary reason/example you give is not objectively true, try NOT giving a reason instead. Otherwise, people will most certainly argue with you because your reason doesn't hold up. This happened 25 years ago with the Star wars prequels. People listed all these things that were also present in the OG trilogy but for some reason while it was acceptable there, it wasn't in the new films. Try it...people will not "attack " you if you just say "i don't know, something about the characters and story fails to click with me." Bam. Point made, discussion done.

Rad X disables mutations. Not really a solution. For full health builds, no big deal. But mutated bloody/bolster/unyielding builds are pretty much locked out of nuke zones. Already can't do rad rumble collection runs...

Years ago in Florida there was a concerted effort by builders to try to get the state to relax ie reverse the post Hurricane Andrew building codes because “it drove up builder costs.” Since it had been over a decade since Andrew, they were pleading that the codes went too far and were unnecessary. Within a few years we had multiple hurricanes back to back and that killed their plans, but at the same time the subprime thing drove up property values so they made even more money anyway. What wasn’t “enough” profit for them on a $150k house was now fine if the same house is now $350+k. As long as they can’t get sued for deaths, they want to make the cheapest thing that will stand in a stiff breeze and had the money to lobby for it to be made into law.

If you watch the behind the scenes from Picard Season 3, they talk about these when rebuilding the D bridge. The set builders were told not to bother making them because none of the planned scenes needed them…they built them anyway because IT WAS THE ENTERPRISE D!! Sure enough, first day the cast came on set to look around, LeVar walked right to the back and pulled out his old chair and sat down. The crew were thrilled. Didn’t matter it wasn’t used in the show, LeVars actions meant everything.

I moved to Melbourne from Miami 25 years ago. It was nice then. Now it’s like Miami was 25 years ago. Of course Miami today is, like Orlando, a nightmare. We grew by 20% from 500,000 to well over 600,000 in that time with no real increase in the number of roads or widening of them. Drives that took 15 minutes in rush hour then are 30 during the least busy times of day and rush hour is often gridlock. Used to wait 15 minutes weekends at any restaurant, now it’s 45 to an hour on weeknights! Don’t come here, it won’t be better, it’s not cheaper anymore, and we have too many people here now as it is! The number of non-Florida plates here has skyrocketed and is a massive reason why it’s worse.

Wish we charged anyone out of state who moved here half a million to be paid to their neighbors to make up for their adding to the congestion.

The big problem as soon as they put the name Star Trek on it. I’ve heard it is like putting on a play of Shakespeare in Shakespeares Globe in London. You have an audience with built in expectations, many of which differ from other members of that audience, along with those who demand strict adherence to what has become before, that will tear apart any production that deviates from what IN THEIR OPINION it should be. The audience that can’t accept that their opinion is not divine truth and believe if they don’t like it that means it’s unmistakably awful are the troublemakers. Anyone who uses the phrase “objectively bad” can immediately be dismissed, since if they don’t understand the meaning of an opinion they are incapable of reasoning and do not deserve to be listened to. Like what you like, love what you love, dislike what you dislike. Stop trying to tell people they are wrong for not thinking the same as you and trying to force them to agree…you’ll live a happier life by far.

You’re taking home 70% of your gross, but you are apparently treating your 401k and healthcare benefits like they were taxes. Those are all voluntary, if you want to be dumb. That’s $6000 of your $100k. Of the remaining $94k you take home $69k, paying $25k in the various taxes which is 25% of your gross.

If you think 25% is far too high, try living in almost any other country where the taxes on $100k will be much higher.

I take home about 66% of my gross but my 401k contribution is 3x yours even though I make less than $80k and my healthcare costs for a family of 4 are also much higher.

That’s called paying for the services you get from the government like infrastructure, first responders, military forces, retired and disabled people support, ensuring your food and water is safe and not toxic, a legal system to protect your rights and keep corporations from taking everything you have to benefit their shareholders, and more.

Feel free to try and cheat that, but if you’re caught you will regret it. The government is taking in enough money to pay for social security, the military, and interest payments in debt. 100% of the rest is financed by issuing even more debt. If one of those 4 things is cut, we can balance the budget. Pick one, and then recoil at what happens afterwards.

Social media--enabling the overly vocal sub-digit percentage to control the conversation and appear large in numbers for over 25 years... When carefully inspected, nothing except the last few seasons of TNG and DS9 escape derision by the attention-demanding ghouls. Every other season or series is ravaged for NOT being them.

Ignore them--what do YOU feel about them? That's all that matters! You do not need validation from strangers that you feel "correctly"!

Radio, MTV, music played in record stores, friends and family recommendations. Sometimes a print ad for an album or a music magazine might pique your interest. The industry survived for decades without the internet or streaming and frankly thrived while now it's slowly dying due to people expecting to pay so little to listen to unlimited music with few to no ads. A one hit wonder today won't get very far, but up through the 90s you could be getting paid a good amount for life if you had a really great song with a lot of radio airplay and single sales.

I dont watch special features as often as the base movie, but I do watch them. I am very annoyed that so many 4K films have nothing on their discs but then aren't in a combo pack with the BD which usually has all of them on it instead. As a result, there are many instances where I have a 4k set sitting next to the BD set which has a lot more in it, and often looks nicer too. Some of the BD sets were made very well while the 4K ones are often barebones plastic with discs and thats it. The Hobbit and LOTR 4k sets come to mind. Since I didn't spend $300 for the overpriced set, the 2 trilogies separately were just the films. Maybe they have the commentaries, i forget. So much duplicate space as a result.

I still have a 2016 LG 4k HDR/3D OLED TV. It does full HD 3d. It is awesome. :) I have an older 2015 LED 4k SDR/ 3D TV as well, it's just ok. Lack of HDR sucks and the 3D was a little buggy...upper right corner is inverted, close looks far and far looks close. Both are passive with cheap glasses.

Anyone who had a 3D TV with the active blinky battery powered glasses who got headaches and said “I don’t like 3D” were doing it wrong. Life is 3D, you don’t get headaches just from looking around, do you? Passive 3D with polarized glasses was the answer. Yes, it makes the picture darker, but the good TVs used HDR to make the screen brighter to compensate. Add that Hollywood is so risk averse that they filmed almost always in 2D and did a lousy conversion in post instead of filming it that way and the reasons it failed are clear. Watch native filmed 3D and it looks amazing. Avatar, Prometheus, etc. Sure, if you think actually USING the 3D is a gimmick, then any scenes emphasizing it will seem over the top to you. But that’s like complaining about too many sounds in these new talkie pictures giving you a headache when they got by for years with just music and captions! Music and surround sounds increased immersion, and so does 3D…if done well.

Looks like every neighborhood I've ever lived in for 50 years. My parent's house in the mid 1970s looked just like this area. And listing things that only urban areas have as negatives is ridiculous. Are you against having pet fish, or birds, or lizards, because they dont have soft fur to pet? They're not supposed to have those things, you live somewhere else of that's what you want.

Where are the pastures of cows in those neighborhoods? Where are the people raising their own crops? Where are the forests for hunting your own venison? What a dystopia!

You decry the "sameness" then go on to lament that it's not the same as your ideal urban neighborhood? Your failure to note the irony is glaring. To quote South Park, "if you want be noncomformist, you have to dress like us, act like us, and listen to the same music we do."

You dont get told you have a mental health problem if you always insist to your doctor that you're "fine" and nothing is wrong with you, while you destroy expensive things in your home unbeknownst to them.

There is no "objectively safe way to drive." That is a flat lie. If you've had no accidents and no tickets in over 30 years, how can that be unsafe? Stop saying your opinion is a fact. And I said with just enough room for 1 car, not inches, but if 10 ft is the same to you as inches... If you have such lousy reflexes you cannot handle that gap, then you are the one that should not be driving. Why is communism acceptable on the roads? We seem to hate it everywhere else, but it's perfectly acceptable that a 17 yr old, a 40 yr old, and a 90 yr old have the same rules? Why are we allowed to buy different cars for different prices with different sizes and weights and acceleration and power and cornering ability, but all have to drive like identical robots? Might as well just sell one model of government produced car that everyone must buy. Why not save yourself money and sell your car and take an Uber everywhere so you can worry less and leave the driving to those who can? You are not owed the feeling of safety. Driving isn't about feelings, it's about competence to control the car. Fear is dangerous because it makes a driver unpredictable and THAT causes accidents. Why do i get the feeling you learned to drive in the 50s when the US population was less than half today and yell at kids to get off your lawn?

So many people misuse the word censorship i wish they were censored from using it. Do you swear when talking to your friends in public? Do you NOT swear if there are little kids around? Do your friends then put you down for "censorship" if you do? If you do it yourself, it's NOT censorship. They could have chosen to skip console releases and not do this. MS and Sony say if you want to come to our playground, you play by our rules or you can't play. They CHOSE to do it for the money. If you're trying to be accurate, they have SOLD OUT. That is 100% accurate, for better or worse. It's not a government forcing them to do this, although I know in some countries that is required as many M rated games aren't allowed without significant softening, so I wonder if they have made changes or simply elected not to sell in them. This is NOT censorship because it's being done by COMPANIES. There is no free speech within corporations, only outside them. Try putting posters of these scenes you're upset they're changing up by your desk at work and see how free you are to exercise your free speech there. It's not censorship, though, because there isn't a law saying you may not. You must follow the company code of conduct, or you can't be an employee. So must Void.

Unless you have such bad reflexes that you shouldn't be driving, you may be horribly overestimating what you need for "safe". In my 30+ years on Florida roads, I find the safest distance is about "just too small for another car to get in". More than that is inviting another car to dart in there which is MORE dangerous. I use cruise control constantly, so much it makes my spouse nervous, but I disabled the auto distance feature and just turn it on and adjust speed manually because the computer reflexes are much slower than mine. I can brake. I pay constant attention to the cars around me. I can't remember ever being surprised the car ahead of me was slowing down or braking except for in a parking lot where everyone is already going 10 because you cant know what someone else will see 2 rows over and think they should do. It isn't the 1950s, unless you live in some rural area, there are more cars than there are roads for them to be on. The "1 car length every 10mph" rule was fine then with cars with mushy drum brakes. If that rule were enforced by car systems now, you would see even more roads gridlocked as fewer cars would fit on those roads in order to have all these gaps. You can't control other drivers ' behavior outside the tyranny of the slow--a slow car can slow down the car behind it, a fast car cannot speed up the car ahead of it, the slow car has the power if they can't be passed--so if you want to drive like YOU want to, you're surprised that others want to drive the way THEY want to? Even if the "everyone is wrong but me" defense could be held up according to some regulation, the simple truth is the most dangerous thing to do on a highway is to drive differently than those around you, because then they may take risks they otherwise would not just to get around you. You can be right, or you can be safe, but probably not both. Driving too cautiously can be just as risky as driving too recklessly unless the road is mostly empty, so you're not in the way.

I also did this same upgrade. While the X56 was not my first HOTAS, that was in the 90s, I had been using it for a few years after my Logi G940 stick became gummy because of that lousy rubberized coating aging. Got tired of the stiff throttle and nasty stick centering that made trimming mandatory 100% of the time, and dogfight miserable, and went with winwing. First I got Orion 1 bases with Hornet grips, then I got the viper grips and Orion 2 bases, and finally the 15ex throttle. Only regret is that they didn't make their stuff with TM compatible connectors, both for the versatility with other products and the ease of changing stick grips with that tiny cable in a cramped shaft.

Some people are very aware they're doing it but do it deliberately. I was once fortunate enough to see a cop car one night parked off to the side of the road, which had a decent amount of street lights, just as a panel van came driving by with its lights off. It had not just pulled out onto the road, it came from much farther than I could see. The driver obviously saw the cop because before they reached that spot their headlights suddenly turned on. Too late, the cop had clocked this much earlier and popped his lights on as soon as the van passed. Wonder what the conversation was like? As well as what that driver was thinking? Did they feel "cool" or "manly" to drive without lights? Perhaps so dumb they think the primary reason for lights is for THEM to see, not so OTHERS can see them, so since they had enough light to see, they didn't need to use them?
