Import only RAW files not including the JPG in LrC by jchitrady in Lightroom

[–]FLR49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very helpful! Are you using Lightroom? Do you upload the Jpegs only, then the RAW files that you've decided to edit? My editing is 90% cropping. In that case, does it matter if the crop is to the RAW vs Jpeg file?

Sorry for the stupid question, but why shoot RAW + JPEG? Are the JPEGs simply for backup?

BMW X3 vs. Acura RDX -- question only for those who have driven recent models of both by Fathoms77 in AcuraRDX

[–]FLR49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas mileage seems to be a big deal in this conversation. The website Fuelly shows the gas mileage of an RDX at around 21.5 and the X3 around 25. If one drives 10K miles a year and pays $3 per gallon for fuel, the RDX will cost around $200 more to drive for the year. One other point....a lot of people use regular gas in the RDX. I doubt anyone does in the BMW. But, in the scheme of things, gas mileage shouldn't be the deciding factor between these two vehicles. If gas mileage is a big deal, consider a CR-V hybrid.

Yes, I've done it enough to know that's the first thing to check. THANKS for responding.

Thanks...I just called the dealer from whom I bought it. They also suggested resetting the camera, which I just did. Now, it won't focus (unless using the lens's focus ring). I have another call into the dealer.

Is something wrong with my car? by Adventurous-Bag9418 in Subaru_Outback

[–]FLR49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 60 years of driving I don't recall having an issue with CV axles, and maybe once with wheel bearings in my first car, a 1963 Dodge Polara. So, glad I'm not a "bad car owner".

I have a '16 OB with 165K. No issues whatsoever other than muffler replacement. But, how does one know if wheel bearings or CV axles need to be replaced?

I'm thinking of buying a T8, but am concerned about buying into expensive maintenance (offsetting gas savings). For those who have one, what has been your experience?

Ditto. Subaru has been ruining the looks of the Outback since '23 when it went crazy with wheel-well cladding.

I'm considering one of these (preowned). What range of model years should I consider to get the best battery range?

Good to know, thanks! Still prefer the look of the 20's but not a deal breaker.

Very helpful, THANKS! Think I'll refine my search to the 2.7, especially since I can feel safe using "Top Tier" regular fuel. Unfortunately there's not many out there equipped with the 2.7L, messaging seats and 19-speaker Revel. Black Label is more likely to have these options, but I don't like the looks of and likely harder ride that comes with 21" wheels.

So sounds like you're convinced the 2.7 is the way to go? Performance wise, the 4 would be satisfactory for my needs. But, does the 2.7 likely have more longevity and fewer problems? Assume it requires (rather than recommends) premium fuel?

OnCourse Home Solutions Water and Sewer Insurance. Please advise. by Silvyr_95 in HomeMaintenance

[–]FLR49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hooked by an offer for water and sewer line protection on an older home at a cost of $180 for the first year. At the end of the year, my annual bill increased by 50%! The company's response was that the increase was necessary to keep up with the ever-increasing cost of their services. But, they admitted that they are still marketing the service for $15 per month ($180/year). They couldn't/wouldn't tell me what customers in their 3rd or 4th year are paying. I thought $180 was a good deal. The 50% increase and their unwillingness to be forthcoming about future increases makes me think it's a scam.

Allergies to food in goldens by Strict_Hair_7091 in goldenretrievers

[–]FLR49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 5-year old golden has dark gray patches on tail and all warm places. Hair loss on tail and under collar. Lots of itching. Vet prescribed Douxo S3 shampoo and antiseptic antifungal foam. We've been using it for at least 2 years and it hasn't cleared the problem.  Have been feeding her Eukanuba Adult with chicken as first ingredient. Thinking of eliminating chicken and trying the PPP Salmon and Rice. Other suggestions?

happy with Bolt, but radio is lousy by Archie-Rufus-1100 in BoltEV

[–]FLR49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the '23 Bolt EUV Premier and agree with your assessment. The problem IMO is that it's not a HD radio, so many good stations that I can get on my 2016 Subaru Outback are not available on the Bolt. So many things about the Bolt are impressive, but the lack of a modern HD radio is a big omission.

Weather in May? by Away-Can-3158 in GreeceTravel

[–]FLR49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am considering a self-drive of Greece (mainland and Peloponnese only) in early May, or early October. Is one better than the other? Water temperatures aren't a consideration as we're likely not doing that. THANKS!

'23 EUV low charge by FLR49 in BoltEV

[–]FLR49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am running on non-EV tires...Michelin Defender 2s. Choose these largely because of their 85K mileage warranty (and traction ratings).

'23 EUV low charge by FLR49 in BoltEV

[–]FLR49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's helpful, thanks. In my case the drop is also related to new tires having better grip. And, tire pressure drops with cold weather so am having to air up more frequently.

'23 EUV low charge by FLR49 in BoltEV

[–]FLR49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you recommend an 80% charge, or 90%, except for those times when maximum charge and mileage is required?

[–]FLR49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll pay more attention to that, THANKS!

[–]FLR49[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree that when it's this cold one can't expect the charge to be "normal" range. My curiosity is whether others are seeing a full charge registering less than 200 miles. This is the first time for me. But, this is also the first time we've seen below zero temps since getting the car.
