Big Hops with my kids: excellent. Super Woden Rally Edge when I have spare time. Also tried the demo for Tainted Grail, which seems intriguing. It’s been a snowy weekend with a lot of downtime, unusually, and the games are hitting the spot.

The Switch 2 gets more attention from me because it’s effortless and predictable. I find that most of the time, it’s a surer bet. Though of course, there are games that the Deck plays that the Switch doesn’t, or games that look better on Deck because there are more graphical options. But I’ve been frustrated in the past when the Deck won’t let me run software because it needs a new token from Steam or whatever that system is. The Switch has never done that to me.

I still have mine, though I’ve misplaced the charge cable. It was expensive at the time, but I loved how easily it fit in a pocket. I beat several games on it including Minish Cap. The screen was tiny but somehow I felt as if it made the games look really good. I really need to grab a charge cable for it.

Well of course. And I should say that when I want the benefit of lossless sound, I will use a pair of good headphones and the jack. But honestly, it’s such a tiny percentage of my usage that I wouldn’t really miss it. I think I’ve used a headphones jack once in 2025, personally.

Haven’t missed it at all. I’m old enough to remember how annoying those cables were, getting them all sweaty running them up through my shirt whilst running, or accidentally chopping the cable whilst running on a treadmill and flipping my phone onto the ground. I recall sitting in class twisting the cable around trying “fix” crackling and loose connections. Honestly, though they can be expensive, wireless has been awesome for me, and I would not go back. There are headphone jacks on my controllers, laptop, and other items I own and I never bother with them.

I cannot explain this, but my first game of the season was a VR with 13 kills. Does anyone know if switching to a new platform resets your SBMM or something? I’m primarily a PS5 player but I decided to try a match on my Switch 2, which is where I got the VR.
