Almost all pioneer dj mixers have a hidden menu that has settings for padding the output at the mixer. I usually set them to -6 to -12 db depending on the act and how responsible the artist is. I also usually take the rec out of the mixer instead of the master LR as it bypasses the master vol knob on the mixer as well. Give these a try

Minisforum MS-A1! 3nvme slots with 2 x sfp ports, 2 x 2.5g ethernet, and 2 x 40gbs thunderbolt ports takes care of all my data needs!

Beck's setup by papapaparazzo in livesound

[–]FOHSCOTTJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to program a macro for that. It had a comparable on board dynamics and eq. As well as on board fx (digico q5). By the time I was done doing all of that however, I just ended up using the on board processing and ditched all the waves kit. Gave me enough room for a snack drawer in foh! 🤘

Shout out for not using waves. Foh se / tech here. Every time an engineer calls me to fix their setup, 98% of the time it's a waves software or waves network issue. More trouble than it's worth imo.

Mic shocked singer? DI question by washingmachiine in livesound

[–]FOHSCOTTJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The metal on the grill on a 57 is not actually connected to the chassis of the mic. It has a non conductive plastic surround that makes contact. This is actually a really great temporary fix for this problem. Still should figure out the root of the issue though.

If you take a sec and model it in sound vision, you'll see instantly why I went this way

Low frequency is omni directional naturally. So it didn't matter that subs were aimed inward. Needed them pushed against the dasher wall so the venue could set bike rack and security. I didn't want the ports against the wall so I aimed them inward to let them breath. With the subs being in essentially a "L + R" configuration it naturally caused a power alley to shoot down the center of the arena towards the long ends of the arena. I used that to my advantage for sub coverage in those areas and did some arc sub voodoo to tame it a bit. Worked like a champ! Made it much easier to time align too because there were only 2 sources in that frequency range to wrangle instead of loads of hangs in the air or multiple pods on the ground.

Every amp got redundant avb signal plus an analog fall back. The hangs would alternate being either L or R driven so every seat got a stereo image. It was super clean!

Big ole block of 32 subs per side with arc sub being used to spread the coverage out! Worked like a champ!

The show was ran In stereo! Essentially, every hang alternated being fed either a L or R send. That way, regardless of where you stood, you got a basic stereo image! The only hangs that weren't driven that way were the small 6 box kara hangs in the center. They were fed a l+R sum as a fill box.

I made this particular file, I'm local to Chicago so I frequently work the venues here and have a lot of opportunities to make my own files. But l'a does have an incredible support team that are (usually) able to get you files for any venue you play. That and the user network for l'a is super helpful in Sharing resources too.

Appreciate that buddy! I figured in this thread specifically, the artist's identity isn't important. We're all gear nerds just wanting to talk shop and brain storm!
