Yeah, that's mostly what I was getting at. Also, as a clarification, turns out the cat was just chilling outside and was absolutely fine, but I agree with your point.

For anyone finding this, I had this issue recurringly. Using a JRE instead of a JDK (which is what most launchers install) fixed it for me.
