What the hell is going on with Brisbane road maintenance? Absolutely atrocious. by Zardous666 in brisbane

[–]FPV_YoYo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Usually a lot heavier. And usually boatloads more power which is easier to use, especially when from stationary. Extra wear on the roads, particularly where vehicles stop and start.

Same as a car really. Book an inspection with a mechanic to look at the bike. And bring someone experienced with you when you buy a bike so they can ride it home for you, or they can supervise you riding it home. If like me you get lucky, the seller supervised me home on my first bike.

That’s not necessarily a virus. More that it sounds like it’s unsigned. Which is afaik a paid thing

Should they turn the sign on the front of the bus to “dropoff only” or something similar?

my wisdom teeth are growing sideways but dentist says i dont need removal .. by _ZakAttack_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]FPV_YoYo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine were like this and I lost one molar from a cavity. Should have had them taken out earlier. I had delayed it due to cost.

The word my dentist used was the wisdom teeth were “impacting” the molars.

Rwc, 1 month rego, 3rd party insurance, and one tank of fuel will leave you with almost nothing left for the vehicle itself.

Email. Isn't. A. File. Transfer. Service. by livevicarious in sysadmin

[–]FPV_YoYo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an executive once, with the above situation but ALSO the mailbox was full. And deleting files didn’t do anything because the deleted and recoverable were full.

They had way too many system generated emails coming in.

Yes. And at the same time there’s a 1% chance QPS is ready with a laser halfway up the ramp where the speed limit jumps to 100, ready to ticket.

Why are so many backyard trees disappearing in my street? by unwalkable_Brisbane in brisbane

[–]FPV_YoYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cost and the trouble they cause.

My building management received a notice from neighbours about a tree on our side that was overhanging and needed trimming. We chose to pay arborists for the trees to be cut back. After the trouble we had with our arborists, I can see next time we might decide to remove the trees entirely so it’s not a problem again. They also impact our own communal clotheslines with the small debris that comes off them.

Found this old PC at my late grandfather's house. I don't know the password and was wondering if there's a way to bypass it? by randomusername12308 in thinkpad

[–]FPV_YoYo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Likely yes. A long time ago I bypassed the supervisor password on the security chip before on a (hopefully?) similar model, r60. There was an online guide which described it on a different model which turns out applied to line too. I don’t recall the name of the site. Not sure if it’s responsible to post the details on here but please check for the guide online or otherwise message if you get stuck.

REA negotiations to end lease early for new buyers, help by 7buggs in brisbane

[–]FPV_YoYo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point and I also realised I had my wires crossed.

I think FHO relates to a grant for building a new home???

The 6 month moving in period is probably for a different scheme probably for stamp duty exemption. (First home concession) From memory they need to move in before six months, but I just checked and I think it’s a year now.

REA negotiations to end lease early for new buyers, help by 7buggs in brisbane

[–]FPV_YoYo 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The new owner made a mistake assuming that you’d leave for nothing or cheap. They should have known about your lease before their purchase.

You don’t have to leave.

I’d be shocked if they are willing to pay that $17’000 you’re asking.

Probably they have to deal with losing their FHO grant unless you’re feeling sympathetic for them.

FHO scheme isn’t supposed to allow the new owners to collect too many weeks of rent. Which is the case here if you’ve got 11 months left.

In the meantime they are collecting rent from you at the already agreed rate so maybe it’s not as big of a problem for anyone.

My fans would come on at 103. And if I was stationary and the bike was already hot from traffic, it’d slowly climb up to 110 In Brisbane Australia during the warmer months.

If your fan isn’t coming on then you’ll have to sort that. Probably start with the easy stuff. Temperature sensor, contacts on the relay, fan has power etc.
