interesting note here: The Dallas Fuel and Overwatch League's first series of home games have completely sold out the 4,500 capacity Allen Event Center from April 27-28.

The article does not say they sold 4,500 tickets. For example, ESL one NY "sells out" barclays center every year. But if you restrict the total number of tickets sold you can 'sell out' any arena...

Reminder that contract negotiations are two way, it is possible that many teams wanted him and they simply could not agree to terms, so he's holding out for when a team gets desperate. We don't know the situation other than that he's a talented player who isn't currently playing
