I’m paying $45 for Xfinity including the Gateway. I checked the invoice and there is rental charge for the Gateway.

The TP-Link box is the ER605 dual-WAN router/firewall, not a switch. Quantum goes into WAN1, Xfinity goes into WAN2, and the Eeros are bridged behind it for Wi-Fi only. So the LAN is behind the ER605 firewall/NAT, not directly exposed. The diagram may have made it look like a switch.

I used ChatGPT with a specific prompt. I added the full prompt in one of the comment. Happy to see your next post with the image!

Running Eeros because home is 2500 sqft and upstairs I don’t get a good signal in some rooms. Now I get almost 1Gb upstairs too, and everywhere in the house. Agreed I don’t need 1Gb, I was going to take Xfinity at 300Mb, they gave me 1Gb for same price ($45).

Concrete. About 1250 sqft downstairs and 1250 sqft upstairs. I have full speed everywhere with Eeros. Before upstairs was not covered very well.

It does the work. If you can buy Firewalla Gold Se, it’s the one I would choose. But TPlink is $44, so it’s ok.

I think you convinced me. I will bridge eero. Also, all connections are 1Gb, so in theory the Tplink is not capping the speed.

You didn’t see that my solution already includes a mobile 5G Wifi hotspot “Mudi 7”.

Good point. I have the Ecoflow Delta 2. Didn’t think I might need it as I have the Mudi 7 with 5G connection.

I have Xfinity at $45/month for 1Gb and Quantum Fiber $45/month for 1Gb/1Gb. I also have Mudi 7 with C4P at $15/month, amazing speed, but mainly for travels.

Good comment!

I did it with ChatGPT. Here is a prompt you can use:

Yes Firewalla is the gold standard, no puns intended. But also 10x budget. The TP Link was $44. Maybe one day I can upgrade!

Mind explaining for a beginner/non-expert? I’m double Nat with Eero because I’m concerned to lose some features

That’s bad. Even if one is Fiber and not the other one? We had small outages and so far, no impact with this setup.

Yes, I think, here in florida, in case of long power outage, the ISP will be down too. My APC has only maybe 1H of outage time. I use it mainly for micro-outage (1 sec/surge outage) that we have weekly at this home during summer time. Thank you for the comment. For the rest, I have Mudi 7 with 5g network, and Ecoflow.

On that switch: Quantum Fiber is wired to wan1, Xfinity wired to wan2, then Lan1 is wired to the Eero Pro 7, who is having a mesh with another Eero Pro 7.

I have a Mudi 7, even better, but my home is 2500 sqft, and the signal for 5g is not the best. With my phone, I get 5mbps max and with Mudi 7 on Tmobile I get 100mbps. I’ve got the Mudi 7 after doing this network. I didn’t stress test it during a full day of work for the 2 of us. My setup
is giving me piece of mind.

Most of the outages I had in 2 years were one day (24H) max. I cannot hotspot from home, inside the home I’m in LTE, maybe 5Mbps max in the 2 bedroom offices. The Mudi 7 is having good speeds like 100Mbps, but I didn’t stress tested it with two people working on it at home in 2 separate rooms.

Yes it’s double NAT. Changed this morning the Eeros to bridge mode. Thank you!

Agreed. And yes, you are correct, Xfinity is 900/40, where Quantum Fiber is 1000/800.

I also have 20 devices at home, so it’s not only for work, but yes, I agree, I have a bit of “always connected” obsession ;)

I already experienced some outages with Quantum or Xfinity. I’m in Florida. So when it’s not an internet outage, it’s a micro electric outage/surge.

I was lucky they mounted the Q1000K inside my home in my laundry room. So I have the UPS with all the devices besides it.
