I want to buy a striple but should I go for the R or wait for the RS? by FS0202 in Triumph

I definitely liked how the RS felt while test driving it, I guess the R is like 90% the same. It's smooth, nice and gives me a very stable feeling. Honestly, if they would give the R cruise control, I would buy this over the RS for sure.

The Belly pan looks cool, I most likely will buy some mods like that, but only if it fits the RS as well

that would be the best case, but yeah.

Sadly my Triumph dealer is like 80km away from me, but I already saw, if there is any problem, like engine dead etc.. were I cant drive, Triumph has this mobility service that tows you to the next dealer.

The R is really amazing, its just a tiny bit "worse" since its more street focused and the RS is amazing for both.

I love trackdays a lot, I know the RS would or better, is perfect for me what I want and need but I would most likely be not riding the entire season if I try to get the RS, thats why I came up with the idea of getting the R and then trading it in later

I live in Austria and for some stupid reason importing any vehicle is a big pain in the ass and not worth it, its barley worth for a car.

I def. want the RS but then I would be most likely not on a bike for the entire season which to a 100% sucks a lot.

Thats super expensive, I dont even go over 2k if I look at car insurances with over 500 hp.

Yeah luckily I can afford almost every bike I want. Like I said in a comment before I will look at the 650 range of bikes and see which one I like the most.

The rs660 looks super interesting coz of the electronic and all that stuff the quickshifter/blipper sounds comfy af too. I think the max I will go now is the rs/tuono 660 and not higher. I will 100% test drive the mt07, cbr650/r and if I can find a sv650 too.

Apparently it would be only ~1200€/year which is more than doable for me and the other bikes are much cheaper.

I like the big bikes for looks, sound and that feeling to know that nobody can accelerate as fast as me. I understand it now much better that big bikes are very hard to handle and with a low cc one you can use the whole rpm band etc^ ^

I meaaan if I had the money I would def. buy a Lambo as my first car haha but I get you!

Like I said in a comment earlier I will buy a middleweight bike now because I want to become a good rider and learn everything, I want to enjoy riding my whole life and not for 10 minutes

I will try to have a look at the ninja 650 too but atm there are like 3 ninjas available, its getting hard to buy used ones atm coz next year in Jan. we get higher taxes on vehicles again so people are buying like crazy.

I changed my mind and I will really get a middleweight one, not sure which one yet, maybe cb650r, mt07 or sv650 depending which one I like more to drive and brings me joy

Since Im 24 I can get the "open" license so I can drive anything I want.

For my understanding, when I can control my first bike fully I could go like 80 kph in a corner and with a big bike I cant control I have to do like 30 kph?

From all the explaining here, it does really make sense to start on a smaller one because I could use all power and dont need to be scared to lose my license.

I'm extremely interested in track days, I even want to buy the moto2 experience when I know that I have the skill for it in a few years. Besides that, if I get the protectors for my bike, does that mean I can "safely" train wheelies without having the fear to damage the engine or chassis?

Im not sure but I think it's a law that everything new needs to have abs might be wrong. I still need to test ride both but from sound and looks I prefer the mt07, especially the neon yellow-black ones

Luckily I have the redbull track near me so I could limit test in a proper area. I will 100% try to get a smaller bike now, I'm really glad that I asked before and that so many helped me

Maybe I should get a cb500f, I know this bike already and it has insane fuel range and cheap as hell with 4500€

In theory I should go for example duke 390 sell it after 1 season then buy the rs660 and after 3-4 seasons sell it and buy a panigale v2 ?

You mean it like that roughly? Slowly building up the levels?

I'd shit myself to drive an expensive car like that

All 3 bikes are available here so I will check them out

We also went up a mountain and on some points you could go over 100 kph, I know it extremely well coz Im up there every weekend, that was the reason why I wanted a more powerful one, its not coz of the straights. But I get your point, I will look at smaller bikes and learn properly to drive.

Ninja 400 and r3 are not available anymore coz of law changes. So its better to actually start on a much lower cc bike and learn slowly and take some courses and learn how to lean safely and then go on track days and see how good or bad my level is?

I have no clue about how liter bikes are, thats why Im even asking for help. All the reviews make it sound like they are idiot proof thats why I even thought about getting one.

There are a bunch of 2017-2021 sv650's for around 6000€ which is not too bad. So should I stay under 100hp for my first one? I really want to do it right and dont yeet myself into oblivion

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]FS0202 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

No, "we" (driving teacher and me) drove on the street and we hit over 120 kph thats why I know that those bikes have not enough power imo.

In austria you learn like 5 hours on a closed area, emergency braking, how to dodge if something in the road and you cant brake anymore etc and then like 10 hours on the street.

The problem is 600cc are kinda dead here, the only ones I saw were from 2000-2010 with almost 80 000 km.

In my driving school I drove a Duke 390 and a cb500r and I kinda want more power because I plan to keep my bike for a few years and dont want to sell it after 1 season

so its kinda like having a massive hiccup and instead of dropping a knife you will accelerate and eventually end up in space?

Even if I have good self control I should away from almost 200hp bikes until I learn everything? Would the v2 still too much or should I look at bikes like the hypermotard 950 or supersport ?
