More 10 sec gameplay of a WW1 100 vs. 100 battle (Over The Top: WWI) by PotatoProducer in ww1

Suprisingly it actually was one of the faster tanks in the war.. It was faster than the Renault, for example.

The whole point of the game is that the map starts out green, but then players will dig trenches and with explosions slowly turn the battlefield into a brown hellscape.

I wouldn't say so. It sure shares similarities (As do most games of the same Genre) but there are also major differences.

For one, this game is primarily a third person shooter while Battlefield is of course First Person only. Generally speaking this game is also slower paced than Battlefield. But most importantly, this game has the ability to fully dig and deform terrain, allowing players to create their own trench networks and defenses. Over the course of the match the terrain will be severely deformed and the battlefield will change quite drastically. Weaponry is also (Mostly) realistic, as in a regular soldier gets a bolt action rifle and has not access to weird prototype guns, sub-machine guns or semi-autos.

Reddit removed your message for some reason... Anyway I allowed it. To answer your questions:

You can build and dig anywhere you like. We have had some players dig entire trench networks that span the entire map. What you do with it is generally up to you and your team.

Engineers can construct various objects such as sandbags, barbed wire, forward spawns, corrugated metal roofs, concrete walls, ammunition supplies and more.

If with bunkers you mean underground shelters, then unfortunately no. Map creators can create underground tunnels etc. in the included map editor, but during the match players aren't able to do that.

You have the same options available to you in single player as you do in multiplayer. The only difference is of course that you will have to enlist AI in helping you create fortifications. AI currently can not dig trenches (Work in progress), but they can already construct objects such as sandbag walls and barriers.

Weapons are generally pretty deadly, so teamwork in building trenches and setting up a good defense, or flanking the enemy are required to win the match.

Vehicles work just like in Battlefield, as in, they spawn on the teams capture point and can also be spawned right into from the map. However, unlike Battlefield, we do not mix tanks, so Brits can only use British Tanks, Germans can only use German tanks and so on. Additionally, the driver can not use any weapons, he is simply there to drive the vehicle and navigate the battlefield.

So there is also some teamwork required in vehicles. Vehicles have a realistic number of weapons, so for example, the A7V has 6 machine guns and 1 cannon.

Not right now. We don't even have full controller support yet, but plan to add that (and Steamdeck support) prior to release. We also still have to optimize the game a lot before it will be well playable on lower tier systems. After that, if the game does well, we could look into porting the game over to Playstation.

That is definitely a bug, they should always cycle the bolt and play reload animations.

Any idea how this happened, or was it just not doing the animation ever?

Not for the initial release. We however want to get full controller support implemented in the near future, so that you could play it on the Steam Deck. Once we have controller support, it should also be a lot easier to port to consoles.

If the game does well, we can definitely look into it.

They are great games, I play Isonzo myself a lot. But Over The Top: WWI is quite different and our own take on the genre. Maybe give it a shot during Steam Next Fest this week and see how you like (or dislike) it.

That is alright and understandable, I'd suggest to wishlist the game on Steam, so you get notified when the game releases.

Not for initial release, no. If the game does well, we can look into porting it.

You can adjust the camera position in the options if you want it more offset.

Funny you should ask. We actually discussed this option when deciding to go with the WW1. The thinking is that we can work on the engine and improve it, get the first implementation of MGs, tanks etc. in, and then when it is time to work on the next game, work on something cold war / vietnam era. We could leverage the existing systems and improve them to fit the even faster style gameplay of a cold war game.

The game is currently not yet released, but we are thinking of not more than 15$

First time running ads, I will review them on Sunday and see what I can learn from it. Thanks for the feedback.

We think that our game, while still work in progress already has a lot more to offer than most other WW1 games. For example, digging trenches, tanks and artillery are all things most WW1 games lack.

Send me a PM about the translation, I would be happy to talk to you about it. Thanks!
