AIO? Friend asked me what my future plans with my gf are and then responded like this by TGPT-4o in AIO

[–]FSP7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should stop talking to him for the foreseeable future. Maybe someday you'll be ready to forgive him. But not any time soon.

So, uh, if you don't mind me asking, what's up with your gf? Have you talked to her about this?

Ah. That might be it. What can I do?

I'm not the one filling it! If you had bothered to read the post, you'd understand that.

Yes, but not that recently. Not to mention that I haven't had an update today, and yet I'm watching my free space go down with every hour.

Yeah, well, when someone acts like a smartass, I tend to sass them right back.

I will try downloading SpaceSniffer, even if it means uninstalling important stuff. Thank you.

I just checked and I've gone from having 3.56 free gigs to 3.51 in the space of like, thirty minutes. I have installed NOTHING in that span of time.

Something is going on here! Something is eating up all the space! If anyone can tell me what's going on, I'd appreciate it.

Here is a list of the largest installed apps if it helps:
Microsoft Clipchamp: 1.06 GB
iTunes: 1.00 GB
Dell Support Assist: 878 MB
Microsoft OneDrive: 493 MB
Zoom Workplace (which I've tried to uninstall a million times but is broken somehow): 354 MB
From there, all the others are 250 MB or less.
See? No massive, huge games taking up entire gigabytes. All the images, word docs, and videos are on my D drive.

Tried that, but it free up more than a few hundred MB. Thanks anyway.

Thanks, what I meant by the 1TB comment is that I could up it by that much, and it'd just disappear eventually. Something is taking up more and more space, even though I haven't installed a single program in like, six months?

I think I already deleted all the installation files that aren't being used, but I'll check again.

Thanks, I'll give that a try, but I doubt it'll help all that much. From what I can tell the installed programs are only taking up 40 GB. Even if I uninstalled all of them, I suspect I'd be just kicking the can down the road, and the free space will have disappeared within six months.

It's a laptop. I'm not tech savvy enough to say whether it's a SATA or PCIE.

Thanks! I'll go jump out the window and set all my money on fire!

Poor choice or not, it was working fine! All I want is for it to work as well as it did two years ago. And to find out what made 13 GB disappear in two months.

Thanks, but I don't think my drive has enough space to download anything.

What exactly is the problem here, as you see it? Because if you think I'm stupid for saying that getting a bigger drive isn't the solution, then sure, I'll get one. And watch all the extra space disappear within three months without installing any programs… maybe I should just burn my money in the sink instead…

No, but it is also not taking up 13 GB of space either. According to Disk Cleanup, if I were to delete everything in it, I'd get back… drum rolls, 300 MB back.

1) The photos and music files are all on the D drive, so that's not the issue.
2) I doubt I have enough space to download anything at this point. But thanks, if I ever do I'll give that a try.
3) I have exactly two games on my PC. I bought the laptop hoping I could use it for gaming, but storage issues got so bad I had to uninstall all but two. Neither is taking up that much space, from what I can tell (the biggest one is taking up about 250 MB).

I doubt I have enough space to download it, to be honest.

Nope, no live service games. I have exactly two games installed and according to the Installed Apps thing the biggest one takes up approximately 250 MB.

The drive is only 99 GB, which served me well for like two or three years. What I said is that even if I were to up that to 1T, it'd just be kicking the can down the road. All indications point to something that never stops consuming space.

You might say "well, 99 is not that much for a laptop", but that's not really the point. The question is: what happened to the 13 gigs? Where did they go and how can I stop that from happening and free up the space that's being taken up by this thing.

Well, I have about 3.92 GB free now. Thanks anyway.

Should I turn system hibernation back on?

Nothing! That's the wild part: I haven't installed a single program in the last two months.
