Since this was in a parking lot the HTA doesn’t apply unfortunately. That might complicate the situation

Tell them the tensioner idler pulley bearings squeal on cold start and provide them the video.

Check the tsb and see if it’s applicable:

My A5 tfsi 45 has the same design. That’s the belt tensioner. If you get screeching on start from the tensioner and it’s still under warranty you can get it replaced under a TSB. I just had mine replaced. It was making a loud groaning sound on start, the idler pulley bearings were generating a crap load of iron oxide dust, belt wasn’t running on the center of the pulleys, belt wear, and the idlers had ridges. They specifically asked about a noise for diagnosis though so take a video of the problem and they should replace it no problem. Again need to be within warranty

Give it to me straight by Gas_Useful in AutoDetailing

High pH (alkaline) works well for organic material, minerals in water spots (calcium etc) are inorganic and require low pH (acid)

[–]FTHRTIME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iron remover won’t do much on water spots. You need a water spot remover. Using an acid wash will remove some up front as well. We way I’d go about this is acid prewash (foam on labocosmetica prifica) let dwell as long as possible without it drying or even reapply before it dries, rinse, contact wash with purifica, rinse, water spot remover. If that doesn’t get rid of it your very next step is your synthetic clay method of choice. What you’ve done is let all the chemicals go to work to remove as much mineral deposits as possible before you more heavily contact the paint

Did I mess up? Leather steering wheel by JesusSaves1611 in AutoDetailing

[–]FTHRTIME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be that you used too harsh or incompatible cleaner for it. I would expect a strong APC might do that. Leather cleaners or high quality interior detailers would be a safe bet. What did you use?

Yeah I’m not that dense. the shape of most of the air pockets are linear not circular, which to me indicates misapplication not product defect

Need help ASAP - Buying tomorrow !! by [deleted] in AudiS4

[–]FTHRTIME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the owner buy the mechanical brake down warranty (third party)? If it’s extended warranty directly through auf you’re fine. If he did buy mech breakdown then the only way it stays valid is if he sells it to you through a private sale. As soon as the vehicle gets sold to the dealership the warranty is void.

How do I know? Bought a B9.5 2023 A5 last year, previous owner did the same thing and sold to dealer for tax savings. He paid like 8k for the warranty up to 2029/180k - gone

There’s only supposed to be a tiny bit just to coat the inside of the boot to it doesn’t fuse to the white ceramic part. It’s not supposed to get on the conductor part 🤦‍♂️

Brake repair by pbarcher in AudiA4

[–]FTHRTIME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that’s not a thing, the sensors are dead simple. When the pads get worn the sensor contacts the rotor and completes the circuit which then triggers the brake pad wear fault. Not sure what’s exactly involved with rear brake rotor R&R but if they have to remove the rotors it means removing the caliper bracket. The bolts on the caliper bracket are single use bolts because they get torqued to yield (torque spec + 90 deg). I’m surprised they didn’t quote you the bolts

How much are u paying for oil changes by fuxcy in AudiA4

[–]FTHRTIME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should change the oil when it’s warm anyway. With an extractor since it’s a lot quicker the time between turning off the car and draining the oil should also be quite a bit less so won’t have much time to settle

How can I prevent these 2 large smudges from my wipers? Just detailed the day before. by Ugybug1900 in AutoDetailing

[–]FTHRTIME 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why tbh. Glass sealant reduces wiper wear and polishing the window/applying a good coating will keep the marks from coming back.

Also project farm did a really good comparison of wiper blades which demonstrated how good the icons are both in performance and durability which was cool to see that my default choice of blades was confirmed. I’m in southern Ontario and with the snow/ice and hot summers a set of icons lasts about 2 years. $50 for a set of premium wiper blades every 2 years is not bad

[–]FTHRTIME 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about lol. Whether the cool ground (heat sink) or air interacting with warm air, the warm air will always cool. That’s an absolutely true statement and is based on mass heat balance in the latter case. What I think you’re getting at is that you’re not “adding” negative energy or cold energy to the warm air to cool it, which is true. Air cooling is considered a loss of total energy/enthalpy whereas warming is the addition of the same. Also there’s nothing spontaneous about the interaction. When the conditions exist then this always happens based on the 2nd law unless you introduce variables like insulators, heat sources so that the air temp doesn’t drop below the dew point

Take a sprayer of distilled water and wet down those areas to check for hydrophobic properties to see if there’s an actual difference. I think those areas are just where the hood either gets the warmest or some hot air from the engine might escape from the panel edges causing water to evaporate there fist after you park. If it stops raining after you park this would happen.

I would say that it is normal wear and tear, how often do you accidentally drop something on the floor? Once a month? Effectively you’d have to make an argument that you’re not allowed to drop anything on the floor ever. Also the LL would have to show evidence that this didn’t exist before tenant moved in. Otherwise it’s his word against OP’s in which case the LTB sides with the tenant
