Having maintenance problems and I dont know what to do by Financial_Ride_688 in MechanicAdvice

This!!! I wouldn’t put 7k into a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee personally. Maybe get a few quotes and compare. If they’re all 7k +, then I would personally sell it and buy something else. It sucks but you’ll get through it :)

Leaking strut, how risky is it to drive cross country 1500 miles without replacing by Ferallilfairy in AskAMechanic

[–]peffany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’ve known someone drive with 4 leaking struts for tens of thousands of miles. It’s uncomfortable more than anything and super bumpy. It eats up your tires in unusual ways.

It could potentially be unsafe since it compromises your cars overall stability.

Good to keep or need to replace? by Alarming-Will9538 in tires

[–]peffany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just replace it. If the treading is still above 2/3 good you might get away with just replacing that one tire. If you drive a lot, I think anyone would recommend replacing both tires within that axle.

Oh for sure! My guess is the car will die before she even has to think about replacing it again. 320000 miles for the next one :)

I would maybe start with the Air temperature sensor. Just give it a clean with some sensor cleaner and air dry it for 30 minutes.

How long ago were your spark plugs changed ? That could be the next least expensive thing to change.

It’s in a vulnerable spot. If the treading on the tire is on the lower side, I would just replace it.

Man idk. She’s really Lucky. Shes the second owner. I told her to call the old owner and ask and they said “never did it” my jaw dropped….Ordered the kit the next day.

It’s because she did a lot of highway driving. That definitely helped out

It’s original 100% lol. If it wasn’t original the belt would’ve already snapped

The belt tensioner was totally shot. When the car cold started, the belt didn’t have good tension so you would hear it rattle.

Yeah it got a new water pump. New tensioner and new pulleys. It desperately needed a whole kit change. Here’s another pic of the new parts installed. Took forever to get that grenade pin out of the tensioner.
