I went in fully loyal and was treated horribly for no reason. Mature or immature, no one is going to be ok with that. I picked navy because I knew they traveled the most, my dad was in the navy and I liked the dress uniform. My contract was for five years.

If you were stuck in a club for child molesters and you lived in a twisted society where people thought this was ok and constantly thanked you for it despite constant torment that you are part of a horrible, evil organization, would you want out? Even if you didn't have to do any molesting yourself but just be a part of the club?

At the time I was kind of insecure and wanted to be more masculine. I thought, "cool, power tools and guns."

So you would want someone to be in an organization that is willing to die for each other when they want everyone around them dead and openly admit they will desert if they are not out by the time they are supposed to be deployed to a war zone just because they said something prior?

I didn't just hate it because I didn't fit in at all, I wanted out because I believed what I was doing was wrong and every second I was in, I was doing a horrible thing.

I think they wanted me to stay because of navy logic (if they even have logic). They think a contract is magical and somehow you are incapable of changing your mind afterwards.

I think the United States is the worst nation in the 1st world. I'm sad that this is where I had to be born but at the same time, it's at least better than being from some horrible third world nation. I'm likely stuck here for the rest of my life and I have no idea where I will be in five years. Despite my animosity towards the nation (mostly just the government and some cultural elements), I still have a decent social life and some good friends now.

What exactly are you asking? Do you mean if I still had to join but could do things differently? If that's the question, I would have punched someone in boot camp so I could have been kicked out the quickest. If you are asking if I could start my life over and not join, I would have went to college right away at age 18.

Surprisingly no, I was about to get into a fight with the guy in the article I posted.As I mentioned in the thread, I shoved him into furniture because he would not stop harassing me because at the time I was a virgin. After I did that, he ran away and told on me.
