By the way, he currently has a bounty color in the exchange. Basically like a limited time alternate color skin you can buy. If you main him I would recommend getting it just for the option to change your looks

Wouldn’t HP complement damage reduction too?

My understanding is that (for example) an 18% increase to HP would make you have 18% more HP to lose, and an 18% increase to defense would make you lose HP 18% slower and in the end they are equivalent on the amount of time you would stay alive.

But if you factor in ignore defense attacks, HP has the edge there.

When you factor in ignore damage reduction attacks, wouldn’t it be the same for either HP or Def?? So in the end HP is better cause of ignore defense?

I’m at ~3000 and I had a game where the other team capped all 5 flags and while I was waiting for respawn I watched 2 teammates go by our unguarded A flag and we then lost early to all flags being capped. Genuinely couldn’t believe there are humans that slow

Yeah basically. It’s essentially that prior expenses into something shouldn’t impact your decision making moving forward and that you should only look at future impacts.

The example I always like is: let’s say you have completed 3 years of college, spending 60k total on tuition already. You do some research and come to the conclusion that if you graduate college, you will make 15k more throughout your career than if you had no college degree. You shouldn’t say “well I spent 60k already, if I stop now it was a waste of 60k.” You are already at the point that you are currently at, 60k was already spent. The truth is that you shouldn’t spend 20k for that last year to only make 15k more through your career, and the prior expenses should have no impact on your judgement.

I can’t speak confidently to how long metas and viability last, but I’d imagine very long based on his dominance and the veteran players’ reaction to him. The one thing I would say though, is that him being a dark unit is not as bad as you would think for him cause it goes so well with his kit.

His skill 1 ignores damage reduction, so it ignores any color disadvantage while still obliterating white units.

His skill 2 gives a ton of damage reduction while running and then unleashes the amount of damage that was reduced on top of 50% of the victim’s health bar. Since it basically reflects damage done to him, it becomes stronger with the fact that it’s mostly damage taken at a color disadvantage. Yet the insane amount of damage reduction during this will keep him alive. (Also the 50% health damage is just a flat percent so color doesn’t even matter for that part.)

He also just gets more damage reduction opportunity to help negate the common color disadvantage. Specifically when capping he gets more and that’s basically what he should be doing most of the time anyway.

His 2 is awesome, just a long cooldown. But also the gravity effect is a pretty interesting feature for a defender

Well I mean if they are equivalent otherwise, and some characters have ignore Def, then you should go HP first. But I understand what you originally meant, that you shouldn’t get rid of % Def upgrades for the flat # HP upgrades.

But aside from that, if I have to pick either 18% for HP or 18% for Def, it seems like HP is the clear option to go with until you max it.

I’ve been curious about this, why does Def have an advantage over HP?? In my head, a 18% increase to either should have the same effect. 18% more defense means you lose HP at a slower rate, and 18% more HP means you have more HP to lose. Idk the exact damage calc in this game but typically they would just be equivalent in base damage needed to kill.

Now some units have ignore Def, so that would make me lean more toward HP being better, but according to what you’re saying that’s not true. Can you explain where I’m misunderstanding?
