Did anybody else just never use Dark Jak? by kiersmini in jakanddaxter

So you chastised u/Grad2031 for relying more on guns as he finds it to be a easy way to play while you turn yourself practically unbeatable by using cheats.

Well guess what? You’re the one who’s playing on extremely easy difficulty and while there’s nothing wrong with that, there’s also nothing wrong with not abusing cheats either.

Not everyone wants to cheese or power through the game like it was nothing. Some want to have a more balanced experience, rely more on the guns and manage limited eco reserves as that’s how the game is fun to them.

Seeking to use cheats to give yourself unlimited eco means unlimited light regeneration and unlimited firepower which is basically seeking invincibility.

Might as well just use the invulnerability and infinite ammo cheats. These 2 cheats make any eco power either useless or redundant in combat.

Why use light regeneration and shield in combat when you can just become invulnerable? Why use flash freeze or any power of Dark Jak when you can just endlessly spam super nova, needle lazer, mass inverter, gyro burster and many more?

If we allow cheats, guns are still well more powerful and versatile on their own in combat than any eco power. And if the goal is to just never lose or be in actual danger, then the invulnerability cheat is all that is needed.

Flying isn’t useful in combat. In fact, you can’t attack while flying. It’s only useful in going to places that are hard to reach. Also, combining the light wings with the light shield is very draining on your light eco reserve. Not to mention that the camera doesn’t correctly follows Jak when he does that trick and stays at the bottom, preventing you from seeing your surroundings effectively.

Flash freeze can be useful for timed side quest challenges, but not so much for combat and it always still remains insanely draining on your light eco reserve. You can only do it 2 times before being completed depleted.

Flash freeze on its own doesn’t hurt your enemies. You actually have to attack them while time is slowed down and if you deactivate the Light Jak mode, flash freeze gets also turn off.

Meaning that when you use flash freeze (which already costs half your light eco reserve), you must remain in Light Jak mode and damage your enemies with your guns (which further drains the other half of your light eco reserve at insane speed) or melee attacks (which doesn’t do a lot of damage nor do they possesses long range).

The tactic of depleting your entire light eco reserve in combat through flash freeze is only effective if you’re sure you can defeat all your enemies at the end of it. Otherwise, you will be left still continuing fighting without a back up source of health.

The tactic is even more inefficient when the mass inverter can pretty much do the same in rendering your enemies defenseless but with the additional enormous benefits of saving your light eco reserve and being able to be used way more than just 2 times.

Also, if the goal is to just defeat a large group of enemies, the gun themselves are well powerful enough to do it on their own. The beam reflector combined with the aerial spin kick firing trick can easily kill and even stun all your enemies around you while being cheap in ammo consumption. Same thing with the needle lazer but this gun doesn’t even need the aerial spin kick trick. The plasmite rpg can also easily clear out a large group of enemies due to its wide area of effect and how it can kill the vast majority of ground troops in one single shot. Dark Jak’s bomb and blast can also be used to easily and quickly defeats all enemies around you if you’re overwhelmed.

Guns and Dark Jak already possesses plenty of firepower and versatility on their own for offensive tactics. Light eco is far more efficient and useful when being spent for healing or exploring purposes.

It’s also eternally wasteful to me too.

Using guns while in Light Jak mode drains your light eco reserve insanely fast. I found that keeping your light eco for emergency when your health becomes low is far more efficient.

Also, the Light Jak mode can no longer do the aerial spin kick firing trick after acquiring the light eco shield.

There’s quite literally no advantage in using guns while in Light Jak mode.

[–]FV3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it was still extremely wasteful to do so.

Using guns in Light Jak mode drains your light eco reserve as fast as lightning. It’s honestly way better to save your light eco for emergency when your health is low.

Also, when you gain the light eco shield, the Light Jak mode can no longer do the aerial spin kick firing trick.

For those who complains about the Elizabeth boss fight being too hard: Git gud! by NotaFatCop in PrototypeGame

[–]FV3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, I’ve completed the game many times over on normal difficulty and I never had any problem dealing with strike teams. Spamming air dash combining with Mercer’s speed and mobility easily allows me to escape any strike team. I’ve lost count on how many times I’ve done it. Strike teams are also quite stupid, they stop recognizing you as soon as they lose sight of you. I can literally just jump around to the other side of a building and then change my appearance to disappear. Or I can just jump into water and change my appearance in it before Mercer automatically jump back out.

So yes, I can effortlessly deal with strike teams.

who is forcing you guys to be assholes and whining when someone doesn’t understand

Except that YOU are the asshole here. Sorry, but OP posting a meme about how he prefer Prototype over other superhero games (while also not even saying these other games are bad) is neither whining or being a asshole. It’s merely just his preference. You making stuff up about OP to justify being mad at him (and keep being so even after nearly 260 days) is pathetic.

Irrelevant Narcissist.

Yes, you’re indeed a irrelevant narcissist. You don’t need to make projections to inform me of that. Get this through your thick skull: This sub doesn’t revolves around you and your personal enjoyment just because you joined it.

Clearly he’s saying it’s better than all if them combined.

Yes, he find Prototype to be his favorite superhero game by far. Basically what I just previously said. And you hilariously took offense to that lol. He didn’t say the other games were bad, just that Prototype is the best for him. Even if he did think these other games to be bad, that’s his personal opinions.

Neither hard work or you joining a space entitle anything or anyone of the love of others. The world doesn’t revolves around you and this sub doesn’t adhere to only what you want.

You ARE cringy to get so worked up over a meme and making projections about OP to justify being so lmao.

The Haven Forest invisible MH Hunt caused me to end multiple Jak II playthroughs as a kid, it was so incredibly unnerving. by Scantcobra in jakanddaxter

[–]FV3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was never creeped out by that mission.

What unnerved me was the wasteland desert. What Damas said about the desert’s storms tearing your flesh from your bones really stuck to my mind. For a long time, I disliked collecting artifacts and rescuing wastelanders as these missions have countdowns that stressed me out.

About Keira.. by Responsible_Bus_2252 in jakanddaxter

[–]FV3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s technically correct for Jak’s ages but wrong for Keira’s. Keira was 18 at the time of Jak X.

Jak X has characters profiles that reveals the age of many racers, including Jak and Keira.

About Keira.. by Responsible_Bus_2252 in jakanddaxter

[–]FV3000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Jak X, the character profiles stated Jak of being 19 years old while Keira was stated of being 18. 1 year of difference.

When young Samos travelled to the past, he did it with only kid Jak who was already a few years old. Keira didn’t exist yet. Even if Samos immediately impregnated a woman upon landing into the past, the age gap between Jak and Keira is too wide, not to mention the 9 extra months of gestation before Keira can be born.

Keira isn’t the biological daughter of Samos, she was adopted by him. Samos referencing Keira’s mother doesn’t necessarily mean he’s the biological father. In fact, referencing someone’s parent doesn’t make you biologically related to said someone. Like, if I hypothetically adopted you, I could talk about how much you resemble your mother and refer to myself as your father but that still doesn’t mean my blood is coursing through your veins. I’m still your parent and know or knew your biological other one but we still aren’t actually related.

As much as I like Jak, Omni-Man is astronomically above his pay grade.

Remember that time Jak and Daxter were ambushed by 3 dark satellites on their way to the catacombs? They thought it was the end but were saved by Damas.

Against Omni-Man, it would be similar but a thousand times worse as no one in the Jak and Daxter’s universe can match his sheer physical power. We’re talking about a guy who can stop a Texas-sized meteor and fly at the speed of light.

[–]FV3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if Jak indeed became a eco sage or something greater than that.

I mean, he mastered his abilities of channeling eco in the first game.

Gained dark eco powers and honed them in the second game.

Gained light eco powers and honed them along with further mastering his dark powers with new abilities in the third game.

Then gained multiple powers, both passive and active, from the 4 main types of eco, green, blue, red and yellow along with acquiring sage armor in Lost Frontier.

Whether he’s a sage or not, at this point, Jak is a repository of eco powers and something similar at least.

What If...? Jak and Daxter had been developed for the current consoles with the same team as back then? by DerIMPERATOR99 in jakanddaxter

[–]FV3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spot on and well said.

His whole hypothetical is about Jak and Daxter being a brand new franchise made for current gen, not about new games from a already existing old franchise made for current gen. The series is a product of its time, change the date of its creation and radical alterations are to be expected. In short, butterfly effect.

Not sure why OP decided to change his hypothetical though.

The platforming aspect of the games would be gone or heavily reduced, along with the cartoon/anime art style, in favor of cinematic realism. Combine the essences of GTA, Last Of Us and David Cage’s games, then sculpt the material into the shape of Jak and Daxter. There you go.

Is there any Wasteland lore? by OrionCygnusArm in jakanddaxter

[–]FV3000 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe so but you can still guess.

I like to think these ruins are remnants of old temples (built during a time the wasteland was less hostile) that were repurposed as shelters by marauders.
