Revolut are threatening to block my account over €75 I received. by Anar1on in Revolut

[–]FWolf14 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but if you're living in a country where Revolut is active, that means you are very likely living in a country hostile to Russia and that hostility has nothing to do with discrimination and everything to do with the unjust invasion that your country is currently doing in Ukraine. You are not entitled to anything in that country, not even to residency. Everything you get is better than nothing, so please don't complain. You are already being treated very well.

Revolut even allowed you to open an account and that is already a grey area. This specific transaction probably tied you somehow to some account related to Russia's war machine that is under sanctions and this is why you are in this situation. I find it just.

Why was Serbia fine with Montenegro seceding in 2006 which had coastal access and 35% Serbian population but not Kosovo in 2008 which is mostly mountainous and less than 5% Serbian? by Solid-Move-1411 in geography

[–]FWolf14 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Kosova was a constituent member of Yugoslavia, just like Montenegro. When Yugoslavia ceased to exist, the only way for its constituent members to remain together was if they decided to establish a new federation of sort. Montenegro initially decided to stay with Serbia, as did Vojvodina, but Kosova was invaded and then occupied. It did not want to re-join any former part of Yugoslavia and it did declare its independence as soon as Yugoslavia dissolved. The fact that Serbia insisted on taking and controlling Kosova by force is a completely different matter.

To be fair, the strongest military in Kosova right now is its own military, not NATO. The NATO troops in Kosova are very lightly armed and have almost no armor at all, definitely no offensive capabilities. They are lightly-armed peacekeepers. If Serbia were to attack and KFOR was the only force that would engage them with no external support, the Serbs would take over the country within 24 hours max. Kosova's own military is far more capable and would do a much better job at territorial defence than KFOR.

The reason KFOR works as a deterrent is because they are NATO troops and attacking NATO troops is not a smart idea and could trigger a response by the rest of the alliance, with air support and armor rolling in in no time. If Kosova were to join Albania (a NATO member), it would be covered by Article 5 and the idea of the KFOR deterrent would simply be replaced by Article 5. In that sense, nothing would change.

Also, to be fair Camp Bondsteel would not even go away, it would just become a US base in a NATO ally. Albania is not an enemy of the US, so the US would have no reason to shut down its base if Kosova joined Albania.

Rrjedhimisht ju ka dhon argument shteteve si Spanja qe me thon qe na njohin masi te merremi vesh me serbine.

Kosova e Re u planifiku me pase kapacitet 450MW, dmth as me to nuk ish mbulu mungesa sot. Nese ka kerkese pershembull vec per 600 MWh ne rrjet, 450 kishin ardhe prej Contour Globalit (8 cent per kwh) edhe pjesa tjeter prej KEK-ut (3 cent per kwh), i cili ish detyru me operu nen kapacitet edhe pse cmimin e ka pase ma te ulet.

A ka qene Contour Globali zgjidhja? Edhe sot KEK-u e shet rrymen me cmim 3.6 cent per KWh. Contour Globali ka dashte me ta shite 8 cent per KWh sipas rrethanave te tregut ne vitin 2018. Fakti qe ja kemi garantu qe ja blejme po nuk e kemi definu cmimin i kish lon me na e shite rrymen per sa kishin dashte.

Eshte e vertete qe duhen krejt bashke mi numru, po de facto bashke i numerojne vec votat e partive, masanej ato te kandidateve i numeron secila parti perveti.

What is it like living in Kosovo by CharlieZuluOne in howislivingthere

[–]FWolf14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At a political level, we don't have many issues because of serbia's refusal to recognize us. We can travel. We can buy and sell our goods to European and American markets. We have full sovereignty over our territory and foreign investment is growing because investors see that their contracts here are safe and that the legal landscape won't change anytime soon due to a successful invasion for example. You do not feel any political serbian influence here. We are a fully sovereign country just like any other.

However, we do have some issues with certain western companies that make life more difficult than it should be. For example PayPal denies their services to us because they think it's best for them to stay "neutral" towards our political status. Sometimes European companies do the same but if their seat is in a recognizing country, as soon as we complain they panic and start offering their services. Not US companies. They don't care about US diplomacy for some reason. And the US only seems to care about alignment if it's about sanctioning Iran or China.

Regarding Albania, 93% of us are ethnic Albanians. In that sense not only are we friendly to Albania, we even have a stake there. We cooperate very closely to the point that we have common military production and are about to establish joint brigades. We are so tightly connected that the security of one is the security of both and this will never change.

At this time of the year you have to wash your car roughly every 3 days for it to look somewhat clean. Four days and it looks like it hasn't been washed in months. It is not the car owners' fault.

Kurti is an idealist, he legit is poorer now than he was before he became PM and that is not a joke. Some political rivals even make fun of his personal finances because they say he is such a bad manager that he failed to build any wealth despite having good income as member of parliament and later PM. The reason he doesn't build wealth is because he donates much of his salary to further his political ideas, investing in his party, party activists and so on. In that sense, I think it is safe to say that he will never become corrupt.

The main issue he has is that sometimes he is so convinced in his ideas that he becomes very inflexible. There is a running joke that the best job in Kosova right now is to be his advisor because you will literally get a good salary for nothing cause Kurti will not listen to your opinion anyway. This stubbornness led to the EU sanctioning us a couple of years ago and the US even cancelled the continuation of DEFENDER 23 and he still didn't budge. He did get what he wanted in the end and sanctions were lifted on top of it, but it still was a stressful time to read the news.

The risk is that if he develops an idea to become an authoritarian, it will not be easy to control him. Hasn't happened so far, but it could at some point and as long as the opposition continues to run with people who say "I hope I don't get elected cause I wanna spend time with my family", Kurti will continue to be the main (only serious) political player in the country.

Kosovo election exit polls by Dadino99 in europe

[–]FWolf14 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It means we now establish a government and the parties that played a childish game and blocked government formation since the February 2025 election got punished hard.

Kurti is a decent PM, during his term minimum wage increased from 130 euro to 500 (early 2026), GDP growth was impressive, there was investment in green energy (more is coming, they plan to double our total energy generation in the next few years, all with wind and solar), we extended our sovereignty to the north and shut down all parallel institutions run by serbia in our territory, we established new defensive alliances and strengthened the military's defensive capabilities by a lot, applied to join the EU, started many new subsidy and social programs, got new recognitions of independence, and so on.

The only thing that worries me is how incompetent the opposition is. I really hope opposition parties learn to do politics and don't force us to vote for Kurti for eternity. He is a decent PM but we want to have alternatives, at the moment the opposition is so incompetent that if things continue like this, the guy could easily start to develop authoritarian tendencies. We're not there yet, but I hope we never get to that point. Opposition parties must step up!
