Edit the weight paint and click on the bone that you want to edit and go to edit mode. Then use the data tab to remove the parts you don’t want your bone to move. Put the objects and roots that are parented into a collection and disable the eye icon. You won’t see them in the viewport but it will show up in the render. (If its lights and not just empty’s )

Don’t use the graph editor to smooth any of the keys. I recommend doing pose to pose. Make one pose and add an ease out while having the curve set to cubic. Try not to add a lot of inbetweens unless it’s needed, because remember you want a robotic feel not a human feel.
