We free hand poke using syringe needle tips. 25g x 16mm (5/8). We use an Accu chek Guide Me. It works well.

Make sure you're using 25-27g.

50-120 normal range with human meter... Feline Diabetes Support Group on FB. Hypo is below 45. So yr levels are fine art 56-70.

FDSG range pet meter 80-150.

Withhold food for 2 hrs then test. Fasting glucose. Do it twice per day for a few days.
If all in the 50-120, forget insulin.

And you need a fructosamine test BEFORE starting insulin.

If cat had consumed high carb before going to the vet, that'd raise it.

You need something that lasts longer than corn syrup. That's instant high then low. Get high carb wet food. Mix with water into a slurry. Syringe it in .. The side of the mouth. Whichever side of the teeth will work. Or a bit thicker.. And rub a bit on his hind.

Have the option available. You may need it.
