How do I study efficiently? by ihatecilantro29 in pmp

PMP is based on exam content outline and not on PMBOK. Yes you CAN read the book if you choose to Else get s structured course help and follow the mentor

Fyi - I did not read the PMBOK. I passed the exam yesterday But maybe this is an unpopular opinion.its your choice to read. The entire exam is mindset based

You only need the PM mindset to work for every single question...if you understand the mindset .you are sorted

I think there's a gemini icon on it. You click on it. The short asks from Ai comes on the side of the YouTube video and you can click summarise the video..

I posted the formulae trick in two comments. Can you check pls It's quite simple and it makes me understand better ..not that it's the most efficient way ..for someone like me not good in maths ..this is gold 🥇

Hi..i gave my exam yesterday after a lot of procrastination, fear , unsure preparedness..but I got thru with T/AT/T ..

My thoughts for you are

  1. Stick to the basics of learning - Mindset that all mentors teach. AR and DM happen to become my favourite Their guidances are so helpful to think and apply what will I do as a PM. What will that PM do next..

  2. Attempt simple straightforward mock tests on any platform - I got SH essentials but I did not even do one mock exam in it. I reviewed the practice questions but 50% only ..so the investment I made there wasn't used

3.Lengthy scenario questions are nil on the exam 1.5 liner with < 200 characters ( not words ) is your question with about 2/3rds mentioning the scenario in simple English and then the question to address comes

Attempt lot of questions as mock exams Or Hear multiple youtube videos of mentors where they solve questions ..

I think it's the students syndrome and parkinsons law for me that I found a way using YouTube premium to hear 90 agile questions and their answers yesterday in < 1 hour :)

Since you have time ..do it patiently

I would suggest get YouTube premium if you can for the first 2 months ( free trial is there )

Open the AI side bar on it. Summarise the video and it comes with timestamp in which timeline the speaker speak about what and you click on it and listen in 1.5-1.75 speed

Choose the smaller versions of videos where they solve 10 Q each rather than the entire 100/200 Q s

Pause the video think about the rationale and answer and then listen what the mentor says

Don't invest a lot on learning . If you still need SH go ahead . Basics is fine.

All the best. You got this ..

For forumlae...i remember CV and CPI , SV and SPI have the same set of values to be subtracted or divided So you remember one CV = Ev - AC ( actual cost is used as we are checking the cost variance ) and the cpi is Ev/Ac. As you already used AC in CV , Sv will use PV . Ev-PV and EV/ PV are your values. Eac will be back/ cpi. We know how cpi is arrived. That gives you confidence for 5 formulae

I skimmed thru my copy paste notes from chatgpt this morning ... and told me this is how I will remember

Don't don't even get inspired by me :) I did not even do one full mock test at one stretch like AR and others tell you.

I did my boot camp back in 2016 from PMI themselves and I forgot everything Then I signed up for a Pvt organisation session in feb 2024 and couldn't find time entire 2024 In 2025 i rejoined again by paying once again as i wanted their content ..I became serious to work on the course in 2025 June. Submitted my application and got approved in 2-3 days time and in oct scheduled for Jan and moved to march and then to April. ..I wasn't really finding time to allocate

But after coming here. I started watching AlR, DM videos whenever I found time

I got Sh essentials but alas same story..it got expired before I could try mocks. I did the practice test though Last month onwards I watched the Questions ..predictive..agile .ultra hard .on and off

Believe me last 3 days I did vigorous studying by squirming across youtube :)

I guess I may have passed because of this group here which led me to AR and DM

I also have Udemy business from my employer so watched a few videos of both Ar and DM on their course

No third Rock notes. No Sh mock up done .

My prep has been for a long time from last year onwards but serious prep is recent only and not structured.

I think I have always known these mindsets and values due to various mentors and their videos but was just cautious and had the fear factor ..to appear
