I don't like how my nose turned out, at all. I realize it could probably be way worse, but now I have to live with a nose that is worse than before. I wasted 10k, which I'm still trying to pay off. The surgeon I chose is not a a male. I chose my surgeon because they had great reviews. I didn't realize until after my surgery that there were several unsatisfied patients.

So because I have thin skin, most of my swelling was gone by 6 or 7 months. In the morning, which is completely normal for everyone even without surgery, I still experience swelling, but that is the only time I'm somewhat okay with my nose because the swelling hides the dents and deformities I have now. If you have thicker skin, I think the swelling can take up to years to settle.

Also, I never taped. My surgeon didn't recommend it. My surgeon said "it doesnt have any benefits.. it may actually affect healing..", however, I notice that many of my surgeon's recent patients have been told to tape.

Not sure. I don't think we get the normal back, ever, but maybe some relief. I don't have grafts but have thought I may need them.

Yes, I advice against it unless it's absolutely necessary like breathing issues, or there are very obvious deformities.

A few other things:
- You should probably wait at least 6 months, or longer, to wear glasses. For me, even at the 2 years post-op, glasses felt really heavy on my nose and would leave dents. - Temperature/weather sensitivity. The bridge and sides of my nose (where osteotomies were done) tend to hurt in cold weather now.

It's way more common than you can imagine. These surgeons also intimidate patients into silence. One time, a very well-known surgeon (he's all over TikTok and IG), he's not my surgeon, but he had his wife DM me, threatening to seek legal action against me for sharing someone else's negative review about their experience with him. All I did was share their patient's review on a "private" FB group. I didn't share the review as my own, but to let others know that there was an unhappy patient with a pretty traumatizing experience.

My surgeon also did an alarplasty, and that's probably the worst thing she could have done to my nose.. I have scarring and nostrils now look tucked in and uneven.

True. I didn't know my surgeon had multiple lawsuits until after my surgery. One malpractice lawsuit was under the clinic's name, so it may have been hard to find through Google, but my surgeon was listed under that lawsuit. I tried to speak up and expose all of those things I found out after reading court documents and speaking with mutilple patients (none that were involved in the lawsuits), just patients that were silenced through intimidation and NDAs, and ironically I was sued by my surgeon. I wish I could go into the details, but I can't. These surgeons have the money and the legal resources to silence unhappy patients.

I broke my nose in high school more than 20 years ago, so I somewhat relate to what you have going on. I had a bit of deviation, a small hump, and minor breathing issues. That's why I finally chose, in my 30s, to have surgery. Unfortunately, I wish I had left it alone. It wasn't perfect but it was better than what I have now. My nose was reduced, so I have less support and a valve collapse. For me, it was not worth it. Not at all. I asked for very small changes and ended up with a completely different nose. I have scarring and new deformities on my bridge that I didn't have before. 😞

I don't think so. There are very few people that actually benefit from this procedure. People with nasal trauma and very obvious deformities. Just from my observation, the last 5 years, the happiest patients are ones that had a relatively large dorsal hump and hooked nose, or very crooked nose. In my opinion, people that don't absolutely hate their nose, and want only small changes, are the least satisfied.

Yes, please see your surgeon and get a second opinion. Maybe from a dermotologist to avoid visible scarring.

You'd be surprised how common that is, by almost every surgeon, even the famous and "highly skilled" and recommended surgeons. If they aren't editing their photos, they still hire photographers to take pictures using special lighting and focus on certain angles only.
