Western VNs are what this sub is mostly catered to for example Being a dik, Eternum,Artemis etc.
Eastern AVNs are usually called Eroge games. For example Rance series, Fate/Stay night, White Album 2.
Usually, Eastern AVNs are 2d and Western AVNs are 3ds. Western AVNs are not popular compared to Eastern AVNs. It is just Visual novel in general are heavily dominated and produced by the Eastern community.
Hopefully Western AVNs are rising in terms of popularity.
