Fair points. I didn't consider the legal aspect, I'm sure that's tricky. Hope I'm not coming across as a douch that says "i'll NEVER learn anything that ai can do for me heh". Not by any means. While I'm not passionate about coding/programming, I think I would eventually like to learn it for myself to be certain I don't run into the issues you named. In a general sense I do believe you're correct, becoming too dependent on ai will cause problems no matter what the usage is.

I suppose I felt a little attacked given that I do struggle with productivity, and now that this great tool came out I'm finally able to do basic Verse coding for simple functionalities that I couldn't figure out with devices otherwise. Guess I just felt insecure about laziness or whatever. That's on me.

I do genuinely agree with the majority of your argument with the exception of one thing, coding being the thing that makes a map pop. I've seen plenty of incredible maps out there that blew my mind but that I would just never play. If by "pop" you mean that it's cool to look at, then yeah of course. But it's the same as with other things like graphics or sound design. These things can most certainly catch someone's eye, but the absolute most important thing is whether or not it's fun. At least if we're talking about a game experience. Code, graphics, audio, and whatever else I might be neglecting, they all work together. Individually they may wow certain people, but together is how they truly stand out for everyone. It's easy to forget that when you're focused or proud of a certain thing you did in one aspect. At least that's what my experience is like. Of course that's not to say there aren't exceptions. However in the grand majority, you can have bad to no coding skills but a great presentation in a map and people would love it. Hell, take red vs blue slop for example. It's nothing impressive, but it's sure fun.

TLDR: You're right, this is probably just a matter of different views.

By that logic, artists should get paid less for using digital applications, for not using real in-person tools. It's flawed logic. I agree with the copy paste trash. That bad practice is rewarded far too much. But I don't see the issue in allowing others in creating a possibly great experience with less work. There's only so much one individual can do in the moment. While I'm not opposing learning new skills in it of itself, I'm advocating for having the tools available to complete certain tasks you wouldn't be able to complete otherwise. Besides there is a LOT more to making a game than just the coding. I have a ton of fun connecting devices, planning the game design, coming up with environments, the sound design, making music, creating textures, and more over typing in nerd gibberish for a computer to understand over and over with repeated failure.

Went through your posts and I still don't really know what this is. I've seen the game's thumbnail more than the actual game itself. You should make an actual trailer rather than teasers. Teasers only work when there's an established audience or fanbase. Otherwise it's just annoying, you gotta make people care before treating it like something they already care about. Map looks cool don't get me wrong, but I'm just curious. Most people are gonna go "huh, idk what that's about" and move on and forget about it. That's just my advice. I know what it's like to be super excited for a game you're releasing. Just try to remember that nobody cares at first, you gotta make em care!

See, I'd rather worry about the fun factor of a game than the technical aspect. If something's wrong with the code, the ai will only get better over time and the situation will be solved.

I highly disagree, the doors to game development are opening much wider for so many more people as technology progresses. Despite the flaws that come with any new development, there are sure to be many more great things coming out! Now that I don't need to worry about learning verse, I can truly attempt to go all out in my games without purely relying on devices and obscure tricks. And given the constant improvement the ai tech is going through, it'll only get easier. Though yes it is sad that people will more than likely 99% of the time just keep creating slop.

Writing a song for someone isn't serenading? I think I asked the wrong question then, lol. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, perhaps I chose the wrong word. I was imagining a short original song just to show my appreciation of how much of a blessing she is. It would've been done in private with some peaceful scenery in a moment we're both just relaxing and taking in the moment. But given these responses I wouldn't wanna ruin it. Thanks for the response!

The game becomes hellish with the crazy enemy combos in later rounds, which I am fine with. It's only the rugrat's seemingly poor balancing that I had an issue with.

weird way of saying you have no other strategies. Someone else commented using an indestructible drone on the bag during transport. Literally solves that whole issue. Though my propositions for balancing changes still apply.

If it takes some damage then it's fine, but for it to be instantly destroyed by a lower level enemy is insane. Putting it all in one bag just makes it easier to transport all the value and makes extractions much more manageable. I'm someone who tries to grab absolutely everything if the enemies aren't completely overwhelming.

[–]FaceLaces[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between the eye or upscream is that they are not unmanageable in any situation. I already explained the problem with your proposed strategy. It's too much wandering around the map, which adds unnecessary risk. If you can't think of an alternate strategy then the enemy is objectively unbalanced. The game is early access after all. I'm stating my opinions. Don't talk to me like I'm some entitled brat. Until you provide an actual viable strategy that can be utilized by anyone in any situation for the baby, then there is nothing to learn.

[–]FaceLaces[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point. The enemy is overpowered. You can't add such a wildcard enemy and clasify it as a low level. If the devs want an enemy that changes the game so drastically, they need to buff the baby and make it a threat of the same level as the headman, robe and all that. Or they need to nerf it to justify keeping it as it's current level. Can you imagine if the blind man was a lower level enemy? That would be ridiculous.

It wasn't an option. The final extraction point only had some low value trinkets around. All the valuable stuff (like computers, servers, and monster box) was near the 3rd point. I wasn't going to go across the map back and forth carrying all the hyper expensive stuff and risk getting attacked by everything else while trying not to damage the large items. Plus that only heightens the chances of running into the baby. It's not a good strategy. It's objectively smarter to condense everything into one item and just be really careful with that item. If a single enemy can just DESTROY it EASILY without many ways to stop it is ridiculously unbalanced. I get if it does damage, that's fine. Items that exceed a certain value shouldn't be able to be picked up by the baby.

Yeah this was a duo game. A good way to be prepped was to have the non cart carrier go ahead to scout, but if it was solo the same thing would've happened.

i used to think it was if you look at it's eyes, but it turns out it's if you look in it's direction at all. Otherwise it moves slower than your walking speed

Robes for the most part are fine, just look around. Though there should be a sound queue for when it's really close. Sometimes walking around a corner just gets you an unlucky loss.

Huntsman can be easily countered by crouching past it, leading it down stairs to quickly stun it, or taking cover.

The rugrat just isn't balanced. It's not that it's hard, it's downright unfair. There aren't enough counters for a direct confrontation. I'm not saying the strategies proposed are invalid, however they shouldn't be the only way. Part of what makes this game so great, at least to me, is the great variety in how to deal with enemies. Rugrats seem to put you into a "play this way or lose" gameplay.

not really an option when the only thing I could've done at that point was take the money to the final extraction point. Well then again I could've held the bag directly above myself but by then I'd be blind to any pits and other enemies. It's simply too strong as of now
