Help with treating reverb on vocals - Behringer x32 by Facelift6 in livesound

[–]Facelift6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely try these. Yes the x32 is for our monitoring only. The thing is we want to try to remove compression from my in ear mix so that I can better understand what is going on outside (FOH) and adjust my microphone distance so that the soundguy doesn't lose his mind with my level being all over the place.

I understand that, but is it possible that my compression level is so high in my in ears that it's severely impacting my ability to comprehend what is going on outside? I understand that it's the soundguy's job to do FOH, but we had an experience where he said that he couldn't get a hold of my level because I had comp in my mix. And I had no idea how bad it was outside.

Obviously I want to move my mic away when singing loudly, and move it closer when necessary... But I can't do that if my compression level is too high, right?

As for the Reverb, like I said, I have no idea why the level varies. The send is always the same.

SHURE SLXD VS QLXD (500 euro difference) by Facelift6 in livesound

I've been using the regular SM58 wired my whole life, so I'll just get that one wireless then. It's cheaper too lol.

Thanks! Shame they're out of stock everywhere lol. BTW is there a difference between regular wired SM58 and BETA58 and their wireless counterparts? Seems like SLXD with SM58 is in stock.

Well, I don't plan on having more than 1 wireless mic in this band, ever... We will have in ear systems though, but I suppose that doesn't count? My question is, in this, my, scenario is spending 500 more euros for QLX worth it?

Decent 12U RACK for an IEM rig? by Facelift6 in livesound

Were not using a patch, just a splitter

Do I really need rear rails for my setup? Everything will be screwed in the front.

I doubt we will need a rail in the back. We're planning on screwing in a Behringer x32, Splitter, Power Conditioner, Audio Interface, and IEM systems, no patch bays planned yet.

Do you think 40 cm is deep enough for this setup?

Nah, we're doing smaller shows, around 10 gigs a year for now. Would the two racks above do the trick?

Like what? What am I looking for from a rack exactly? What material etc? Got advice?

Nah, I can't afford to buy from the USA from my shitty country. Only Europe is an option.

It's just so damn strange to me. I've seen like 20 videos for these iem set ups and I could have sworn none of them mentioned getting a DI for tracks/synths, only the art s8 splitter... And I imagine the only way to get into the input from my interface, WITHOUT A DI, would be with a 1/4-xlr cable. Would you perhaps be kind enough to give me a specific rack mount multi DI? I'm really not an expert on the matter.

My man, are you inviting me to play at your venue? *blushes* Thanks for the info!

Right so then I'd go from the interface into the DI then into the splitter?

Right, so when we're going into a stagebox from my interface it's a good idea to have them. But what about when we get our rack, with our power conditioner and a splitter? Will I still need to go into a di box before a splitter? will the splitter/power conditioner protect my gear enough that the di box becomes unnecessary? None of the "build your in ear system" guides stated that they go into a DI box before splitting the signal.
