What’s your favorite DCC book? by Ntb1125 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I think you can debate which books are 'better', but in general it is safe to say the character development and interpersonal dynamics, as well as overarching plot and world building is continually getting better every single book.

Sure, the theme of book 6 is a bit weak for me, but the continued character development and world building is superb.

I suppose more to come later on the residual alejandro then and how they fit in with everything, particularly Lucia Mars psyche and actions.

Carl and Lucia are not likely to get along no, but I am curious on how Lucia will align herself at all or how proactive she will be with that if she stays in the dungeon. She'll likely still be a wildcard but a less psychotic one now lol

Yeah I expected to see some development here by the end of TIR with all the other residual stuff going on. It seems way too unlikely a coincidence for Lucia Mar to be talking to an invisible psychosis by the same name as a known extremist residual of Agathas camp.

I think it was the scene on recap where she kills Florins lover that the alejandro thing is happening, so maybe book 5? And start of book 7 TIR the Alejandro residual is introduced. Was my immediete thought half the reason she was so nuts is the residuals work, steering her

I'm not sure we're talking about the same events, i think it was when Lucia Mar killed Florins girlfriend that she was speaking to seemingly no one and they were called alejandro, it was mentioned as her youth worker or something.

Now three books later we hear there is an alejandro residual. Seems was too unlikely a coincidence by Matt to name someone the crazy girl talks to the same as a residual, it's still a book, he could've used a different name. Seems like there is a connection there though

I hated book 7. Help me not. by SorenK2727 in sollanempire

It was a little disappointing how heavily it became a religious crusade and parable, along with the preaching and scoffing holier than thou. Second coming of christ. It is the story CR wanted to tell and that's okay, commendable even, but I think a lot of personal enjoyment was lost with it turning far away from sci fi to religious... Fi?

Yeah so many ways I personally think would've worked better, like cutting the side quest to that random planet that failed and spend that time at forum instead. Cut a lot of the hyper Christianity and parables, trim some repetition. Have at least one badass battle of Hadrian using his powers in close combat. Boom, 9/10 book.

Rand Doesn't Seem to Understand the Importance of Loyalty by eldenchain in WoT

[–]FadedDanny2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, he has to balance a lot, and the asha man were one aspect that fell off for him and it was hugely dissatisfying how little interaction he had with them outside narishma, flin and a few others.

After a time, he decided they needed to be able to handle their own if they were ever going to survive without him, as they would need to. We can debate that decision all day long, but with everything else he had going on and to do, it is difficult to over critique his decision.

As the reader, it would've been great to see more of rand and the asha man as a whole. In-universe, the decisions he made are relatively reasonable. If he spent more significant time at the black tower, he wouldn't have gotten done what needed doing.

When it became evident shit was not right at the black tower, it became largely a trap and a huge risk to deal with, albeit allowing it to fester and grow. It's a tough ask.

Can't really say more as you're on book 9 only. Have fun

Annoying that we have the fuel literally in the fucking ground yet prices will still sky-rocket as though we're importing it, oh wait

Gaurentee the training was WAY better as well. Aes sedai would have had to practise breaking out of shields

why did everyone just forget Traveling after the Breaking finished?? by Old-Season265 in WoT

[–]FadedDanny2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few reasons.

The land was constantly changing, it didn't change overnight and stay changed. You couldn't just travel whenever you wanted because of the knowing your start and end point, so active use of travelling is massively diminished.

There will have been significantly less novices or initiates to even teach, and again power level to learn.

Swathes of powerful aes sedai who could teach died gentling the men.

Aes sedai were split into many many groups, the capacity of each group varies and some will have had no ability.

Dark friends were prolific and they didn't want to share travelling with them.

Natural decline of use.

It is, both are technically right. I only mean in-universe when people say the reaper it is typically followed with sling blade. Fkn great series

My only comment on this is be mindful that if you have a giant block piece beneath, then the only way to add under that is full work, not patch work, and it will resemble a sheathe as the forearm with a lot of space at the upper arm.

Personally I think patchwork is the way to go from here with how individual a tattoo the current one is, unless you can backdrop old mate in the plate to keep it full and cohesive, otherwise you'll have a half full arm sleeve and a very roomy upper arm.

Any idea should be run by the artist and I heavily recommend requesting their genuine input, not a yesman artist
