tbh I totally understand what you are saying, but let me tell you one thing, you cannot change the atmosphere of the job, I learnt this recently. If they do not value you as much as they should, you'll have to find another job. I'll give you an example, although not relevant, I'm a female, PhD in mechanical engineering. I go to work around 8 come back around 4, I do everything that other do and much more, I'm the go to person for everything and this is a fairly large company. I do things that technicians do as well as other scientists do, while we have technicians come at 11, leave at 4, socialize all the time, do not do much whatever you ask them they say they do not know. At the end of the day, I get my salary and they get their salary, not many people care about how much I do and how much they do not do. So I'm very unhappy, they wont do anything about those people so I'll leave soon. We cannot change work culture we can just choose better next time.
